5) Spider-Man (Suit) No More
The trailer also reveals that this ship sequence might just be the big inciting incident of the movie. After Tony has to bail out Peter, he’s clearly disappointed in his protege and demands that Peter hand his suit back to him. “But I’m nothing without the suit,” Peter pleads. “If you are nothing without this suit,” Tony retorts, “then you shouldn’t have it.”
This reveals an interesting twist that was only briefly hinted at in the previous trailer. After being given the classic Spider-Man suit, with all Stark’s upgrades, during Captain America: Civil War, Peter will have to be Spider-Man on his own in this movie. In subsequent clips, we see that Spidey is forced to go back to his homemade suit that was very briefly glimpsed in the aforementioned threequel.
After Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man, we’ve become very used to seeing Peter start out with a homespun suit and then graduate to the usual costume, so the fact that Homecoming will give this formula a twist is yet another example of the movie offering us something we haven’t seen before.
