1) Cable’s Coming
Don’t go anywhere once the first after-credits scene ends, because another immediately follows, this time featuring Deadpool spilling the beans on what’s to come in the sequel.
Much to the delight of comic book fans everywhere, the character reveals that Cable, the time travelling mutant with a bionic arm, will be in the next instalment of the franchise, suggesting that he could be played by Mel Gibson, Dolph Lundgren, or…Keira Knightley? (there are, of course, a number of better alternatives).
Regardless, the scene is a great way to tease fans about what’s to come, and thankfully, is going to lead somewhere now we know that Deadpool is officially a hit.
[zergpaid]However, the involvement of a character like Cable means that the sequel will no doubt take things in a very different direction, and it’s going to be interesting to see exactly how the creative team goes about handling that.
After all, the budget will no doubt be significantly increased next time around, but so long as they keep the same unique tone, there’s really no need to fret about Deadpool becoming just like every other superhero franchise.
Indeed, with Reynolds making his intentions clear about bringing X-Force to the big screen, we could be looking at a whole new wave of R-Rated Marvel movies coming our way very soon….
