6) The Vega Brothers
Forget Kill Bill 3 – how about a Quentin Tarantino sequel that’s a follow-up to both Reservoir Dogs AND Pulp Fiction? That was what the proposed Vega Brothers movie was to be, a film that brought together Michael Madsen’s Vic Vega from the former, and John Travolta’s Vincent Vega from the latter.
More a spinoff than a strict sequel, The Vega Brothers – or Double V Vega, as QT wanted it to be known – would have united the titular siblings for a crime saga set during Vincent’s Amsterdam days. Unfortunately, time was a factor in getting this made, and as Tarantino rarely likes to rush anything, the cold inevitably of ageing meant Madsen and Travolta simply became too old to reprise their roles.
That said, Tarantino had a backup plot: for a more direct sequel, the director though Madsen and Travolta could play twin brothers of their deceased characters, flying to LA and seeking revenge in an improbable pulp team-up. However, at present that project appears dead, too, most likely because it’s absolutely ridiculous – not that the prospect of seeing two of Tarantino’s coolest figures on-screen together doesn’t retain its appeal.
