3) Bill And Ted 3
What is it?
A long-developing Bill & Ted threequel, following on from 1989’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bogus Journey. Starring Keanu Reeves as Ted and Alex Winter as Bill, Bill & Ted 3 will focus on the characters in middle-age, and involves Bill and Ted facing up to the fact that they haven’t changed the world. It will, according to Winter, involve multiple versions of the hapless duo, and will, of course, incorporate a time travel element.
Why it could escape development hell:
Like Arnie, Keanu could use a hit right about now – his last few films have either under-performed or tanked at the box office – and he’d have a much better bet of re-energizing his career by returning with a sequel to one of his successful past projects. And it seems Bill & Ted 3 really is very close to getting made, even if it’s taken five years just to get the script right.
There’s no word yet on who will direct, but according to Winter, “producers are on, financiers are on, and we’re just working and reworking the script.”
