10 Extremely Underrated Animated Comic Book Movies

While the fanboys battle it out on Facebook and Twitter about which cinematic universe is better, there's a whole bunch of animated comic book movies waiting around to be watched. Sure, some of them, such as Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, have garnered critical acclaim and legendary status, but many have also gone under the radar in a quiet fashion. I'm willing to bet that there's more than a handful that you've probably never even heard about.

Flash Gordon: The Greatest Adventure Of All (1982)

Forget about Sam J. Jones, because Robert Ridgely was the most comic book accurate version of our favorite blond hero in Flash Gordon: The Greatest Adventure of All. The film might not have as aged well as some of the other titles on this list, but it’s still a piece of forgotten animation treasure.

Produced by Filmation and written by Samuel A. Peeples, this hard-to-find movie gave us everything that we could ever want from a Flash Gordon film. While it deviated slightly from the animated series and the live-action outing of the time, it still provided the galactic drama and action we craved. Of course, it had Ming the Merciless, too.

We might be gaga over Batman and Superman nowadays, but Flash was the real MVP back then. Even today, this animated film is still a legendary adaptation that we can all enjoy and cherish.

Tell us, have you seen any of these animated efforts? As always, let us know in the comments section down below.
