10 Cloverfield Lane Continues To Intrigue With New Super Bowl TV Spot

"Something's coming," John Goodman's grizzled survivor whispers in the latest teaser for 10 Cloverfield Lane. Make no mistake, if there was ever any doubt that Bad Robot's sequel (spinoff?) would feature good ol' Clover - or some breed of the monstrous creature that attacked Manhattan in the 2008 original - last night's TV spot ought to put those rumors to bed.

Debuting amid the onslaught of movie trailers released during Super Bowl 50, the second teaser for 10 Cloverfield Lane is a flurry of fast cuts and eerie night sequences. The money shot is, of course, included at the end, where a seemingly unnatural light engulfs a dilapidated house, only to be followed by a very familiar roar.

In, er, light of the new clip hitting the interwebs, Twitter user Dan Milano has pulled together the scene in question to compare it with Clover’s original snarl, and the results are uncanny.

For a film that’s set to hit theaters in little over a month’s time, there are precious few details available for 10 Cloverfield Lane, which really has us all the more excited. What we do know is that J.J. Abrams will return to produce the follow-up, placing Dan Trachtenberg in the director’s chair. Meanwhile, John Gallagher Jr., Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman headline a small cast of characters, who appear to be living out their remaining days in some form of nuclear banker.

From that, we can assume that the United States – and perhaps the entire planet – has been brought to its knees in the wake of a global chemical attack. Does this indicate that there are now more than one giant creature? Who knows, though Abrams did tease that next month’s thriller will stand as a “blood relative” to Cloverfield.

10 Cloverfield Lane is coming a lot sooner than anyone could have anticipated (March 10), and to catch up with all the rumors and speculation, check out our own musings on Bad Robot’s quasi-sequel.
