And The Title Is… Endgame!
Yes, the biggest reveal from the Avengers: Endgame trailer is that it’s called Avengers: Endgame. Marvel has kept a tight hold on what the fourth Avengers movie would be titled for months now, so the big draw of this trailer – you know, apart from actually getting a look at the film – was finding out its name. And now that we know, it comes as something of a surprise.
For the past couple of months, we’d been led to believe that the title was Avengers: Annihilation and had been called that throughout the movie’s production. Some fans were dubious of this, however, as Annihilation is a completely unrelated comic book arc and it would make more sense for that name to be saved for later. Congrats to those fans, as you’ve been proven right.
As have those early rumors that the movie would be titled Avengers: Endgame. We were told that the title had been referenced in Infinity War, so many jumped on Doctor Strange’s line “we’re in the endgame now.” This theory was cast away, though, when reports told us that this wasn’t the title. We’re now wondering whether Marvel themselves spread this false info to throw us off the scent.
