In the post-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World, we get our first look at the Collector and his, er, collection of exotic alien life and artefacts. Hidden within it is an innocuous-looking cocoon – unless you know your comics, in which case you’ll recognize it as the cocoon of cosmic hero Adam Warlock.

Fast forward to the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy and, if you can drag your gaze away from the completely unexpected appearance of Howard the Duck, you can see that Adam’s cocoon is now open…

Given the character’s important role in the story of the Infinity Gauntlet in the comics, we would bet that this is no mere easter egg, but some very precisely placed foreshadowing for the imminent arrival of the character in the MCU.

Expect Warlock in Avengers: Infinity War, if not Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.
