Sony representatives have confirmed that Zipper Interactive, a first-party developer of numerous games for the PlayStation brand, has been closed down.
Citing “a normal cycle of resource re-alignment” as the reason for the closure, this marks the end of a 17-year life for the developer. Originally founded in 1995 and located in Redmond, Washington, Zipper was responsible for many entries in the popular SOCOM series, the online PS3 shooter MAG, and most recently Unit 13 for the Vita.
Despite its closing, Sony has stated that they will continue support for the developer’s titles, including Unit 13‘s various Daily Challenges.
