As Ubisoft’s marketing machine makes its final few turns in promoting Tom Clancy’s The Division, you can now simulate the end of the world starting with your own town. Titled ‘The Collapse,’ this new browser-based simulation lets you pick the point from which to start a disaster before sitting back to watch it all fall apart.
The programme prompts you to pick from a few localized options at various stages – such as which hospital or pharmacy to visit – as you play patient zero for the outbreak. From there, you’ll see the number or infected citizens increase as the death toll starts counting and rising.
It’s a pretty grim scenario, but one that lends weight to the rapidity of the collapse that takes place in the events of The Division. As you can see from my own example below, even starting from a medium density area the projected spread of the outbreak could be disastrous.
In cheerier news – for PC players at least – a new gameplay trailer has also launched to demonstrate the optimized areas of The Division‘s PC version. The 60 FPS trailer, which you can see at the top of the page, details the various visual and technical optimisations that PC gamers will be lucky enough to experience very soon.
Tom Clancy’s The Division launches for all platforms on March 8th.
