It’s official: Development on Quantum Break is now complete, with Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake taking to Twitter to announce that the Xbox One and PC shooter has gone gold ahead of its release early next month.

After rounding the final corner in January, not to mention pushing an extensive delay, the studio’s new sci-fi IP is finally ready for debut, leading Lake to crack open the champagne on behalf of the development team.

Nowadays, the term gone gold doesn’t necessarily hold the same meaning that it once did, given that developers are often busy releasing patches and updates weeks and even months after launch. There’s also the question of dovetailing the story of Jack Joyce – Quantum Break‘s lead protagonist – with the narrative underpinning Microsoft’s planned live-action television series. Previous announcements have hinted that player choice in game will affect the outcome of the show, and we’ll surely learn much more about that purported synergy in the coming weeks.

Quantum Break is scheduled to drop for Xbox One and PC on April 5. Those who pick up the game on the former platform will be entitled to a free digital copy of Alan Wake, Remedy’s cult hit from last generation. It’ll include both story expansions, too.
