The countdown has begun, it seems. Ubisoft, undeterred by leaks outing the sequel’s existence, have officially rolled out the first Watch Dogs 2 teaser.
Teeing up the game’s long-anticipated reveal on Wednesday, June 8, the ominous, all-too-brief snippet features what we assume to be the new protagonist – a black character by the name of Marcus, apparently – hacking into some form of network via his trusty mobile device.
Those same reports that seemingly revealed the identity of Watch Dogs 2‘s hero also suggest that the title will take place in San Francisco, shifting the clandestine action over from the original setting of Chicago. Many of those questions will be answered in two days’ time, of course, with Ubisoft slating the world premiere for 9am PT/12pm ET.

Four years ago, Ubisoft came under fire when it revealed a somewhat disingenuous trailer for Watch Dogs, touting bleeding-edge graphics that were eventually scaled back in time for the game’s release. Here’s hoping the mega-publisher has taken heed of the backlash in time for Wednesday.
Check back to We Got This Covered on June 8 when we’ll have full coverage of the sequel’s reveal. Indeed, reports have stipulated Watch Dogs 2 is headed for a fall 2016 release on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and we’ll be keeping you posted as more information comes to light.
