Ubisoft has released a brand new video for Watch Dogs 2, which showcases a handful of gameplay mechanics and features that were originally shown off at Gamescom 2016, which took place from August 17 to 21, in Cologne, Germany. The gameplay video, which is narrated by Animation Director Coin Graham, clocks in at nearly 20 minutes, and is based off an alpha build from the PlayStation 4 version.
Compared to the original, Watch Dogs 2 allows players to hack more easily, thanks to a quick contextual hack that can be pulled off with a quick button press. Of course, there are options to take advantage of more thorough hacks, thanks to a new Net Hack view which allows you to see the world through a visual filter, highlighting hacking options throughout the environment (this mode is reminiscent of detective modes from other games, such as the Batman Arkham series).
Marcus, the protagonist, also has a few gadgets at his disposal. One of our favorites that was shown off was his Quad Copter, an unmanned drone that allows you to visit landmarks and the city as a whole, as well as hack devices that are far off, or not within Marcus’ reach.
There are plenty of other improvements and additions that have made their way into Watch Dogs 2, some of which are a direct result of fan feedback from the original Watch Dogs. For one, driving mechanics have now been improved; developer Ubisoft Montreal has teamed up with sister studio Ubisoft Reflections to revamp the controls to best suit the tight winding streets and steep hills of San Francisco, where the game takes place. Marcus can also take some time to customize his look, by visiting a variety of clothing stores strewn throughout the city.
Watch Dogs 2 is set to release on November 15, 2016, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PCs.
