Fatshark’s popular first-person shooter title Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide comes to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next week, the developer has announced via a new trailer.
Often likened to Valve’s Left 4 Dead series in regards to structure and gameplay, Vermintide takes place in Games Workshop’s Warhammer Fantasy universe, pitting four players (yourself included) against the Skaven horde – a bipedal race of overgrown rodents that would love nothing more than to chew your face off.
Unlike its inspiration, however, Vermintide sells itself on offering replayability by way of a randomized loot system that rewards you at the end of each stage depending on the number of dice you find and roll. A cute nod to the tabletop game on which it’s based.
In his review of the original release on Steam, our own Joshua Kowbel gave it three and a half stars out of five, describing it as “an eerie, well-done Left 4 Dead mod on the surface,” that, despite having a sometimes-dissatisfying loot system, can be the perfect remedy for your “co-op and loot driven needs, Warhammer fan or not.”
If that sounds like your sort of thing, Fatshark says that digital and physical pre-orders are now open. Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide launches October 4 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
