After creeping onto the PlayStation Store yesterday evening and successfully terrifying umpteen gamers, the unusual P.T. (aka Playable Teaser) was revealed as a set-up for Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s all-new Silent Hill Game.

Of course, given that Kojima was involved, the idiosyncratic developer chose to blindside the entire industry by releasing the demo under 7780s studio — a hitherto unknown company — thereby allowing the gaming community to unravel the mystery for themselves (which they inevitably did).

Upon completing the aforementioned demo, ardent players were treated to a brief teaser trailer for the new entry in the renown horror franchise, one which also features Norman Reedus — fan favourite Daryl from The Walking Dead — in the starring role. The atmospheric footage, which you can glimpse below, doesn’t reveal much in terms of story, though it does see Reedus’ character walking tentatively down an abandoned street — an image that has become all to familiar with fans of the series.

Currently titled as Silent Hills, not much is known about the forthcoming project; though fans will hope that this latest iteration will serve to erase the memory of 2012’s rather underwhelming Silent Hill: Downpour.

With both Kojima and del Toro overseeing the project, it’ll be intriguing to see how the talented duo form a union between the stylized gameplay associated with the former along with the latter’s gothic aesthetic. Of course, del Toro is no stranger to the horror genre himself — having directed the likes of The Devil’s Backbone and Mimic — so it’ll be fascinating to see how his cinematic sensibilities transfer to the video game medium.

Currently, this latest instalment in the Silent Hill franchise is without a release date, though we’ll be sure to keep you updated as more information appears.
