While not exactly as loved by fans of the genre as perhaps Tekken or Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter holds its place in fighting game history. It’s been a while since the last instalment hit western shores, four years actually, but you’ll have to wait a little while longer if you want to jump in on the action.
Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown is a rebalanced update of Virtua Fighter 5, adding in a few extra characters for good measure. It was released last year for Japanese arcades, but SEGA have announced at Gamescom this week that they will be bringing the title to home consoles via digital download on both PS3 and 360 in the Summer of 2012.
The arcade version of the game will be playable at PAX so make sure to check it out if you’re there.
