Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is going to have single player DLC, and following from this announcement, developer Naughty Dog admitted that it hasn’t quite thought about how they’re going to handle it. Director of communications, Arne Meyer, provided some insight into the studio’s dilemma in an interview with GameSpot.

Meyer said that the game director hadn’t even begun to think about what shape their single player downloadable content could take.

“Neil hasn’t even begun to think about what the storyline for the single player DLC is. Then obviously we don’t have the resources to work on it because everyone’s working on the game. We just know that we’re going to do it.”

“We’ve always said to ourselves internally that when we’re in the pre-production stage, we’re trying to figure out what type of game we’re trying to make. Do we continue the series or not? If things don’t feel fresh or it doesn’t feel like we have an actual story to tell, it doesn’t feel like we’re able to try new things or innovate with gameplay, then we’ll start thinking about stepping away from it. Every time it’s worked out in that we’re like, oh yeah we have a story to tell.”

Judging by the title of the game and the uncharacteristically dark trailer and promotional art that has appeared for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End so far, many have speculated that the game could culminate in the death of the series’ protagonist Nathan Drake. If that’s the case, then it would make sense in some way as to why Naughty Dog would be confused with their DLC plan.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is currently slated to arrive on March 18th, 2016, exclusively for Playstation 4. When we hear more on what Naughty Dog has planned for DLC, we’ll be sure to let you know.
