Developer Respawn Entertainment has revealed that the upcoming Titanfall 2 beta test will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Word comes by way of the studio’s official blog, where Studio Co-Founder Vince Zampella acknowledged that it’s a “big disappointment” PC players will miss out on the action, but conceded that the development team “aren’t ready to deal with” the various SKUs of video cards and CPUs that come hand in hand with a PC release.

“We’re still making a lot of tweaks and changes to the renderer, the game, and effects so we haven’t run the game through the hardware compatibility lab yet to detect and handle a large variety of hardware–video cards, CPUs, etc.. Quite frankly, we aren’t ready to deal with that yet, we are still making the game better. Currently the PC game isn’t as easy to throw out for testing as the console is, because of the additional variables and configurations that we need to support.”

At the time of writing, Respawn is still to announce an official start date of when the beta will go live, but Zampella teased that shooter fans ought to clear their schedules for the next two weekends.

As things stand, that places the Titanfall 2 beta in close proximity to DICE’s own online testing session for Battlefield 1. That embarrassment of riches will extend into October, too, with both games due to land on October 28 and October 21, respectively.
