As promised, publisher Bethesda has given fans of The Evil Within an update relating to the survival horror’s maiden slice of DLC, The Assignment, which has been slated for a March release across consoles and PC.
News comes by way of Bethesda itself, who outlined the launch window via the eerie trailer above. In it, we see who we assume to be Juli Kidman — partner to Detective Castellanos and core protagonist for this slate of add-ons — cowering in a locker from a menacing threat. The Assignment is the first of three content packs releasing for The Evil Within, considering that The Consequence and The Keeper will rear their heads later this year.
According to the publisher, the first installment will see players come up against against all-new monsters and puzzles as they look to unravel the game’s ambiguous plot. For the uninitiated, Juli (voiced by Jennifer Carpenter) is a side character within the survival horror’s core campaign, who ventures forth into the foreboding corridors of the Beacon Mental Hospital without the ability to recall her own past. It’s a character that proved to be somewhat underused throughout the story, and we’re happy to see The Evil Within‘s deuteragonist get her share of the limelight.
Those of you who have picked up the game’s season pass (priced at $19.99) will gain access to each batch of DLC as it is released.
Tango Gameworks’ The Evil Within first launch across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in October of last year. For more on Shinji Mikami’s anticipated return to the horror genre, be sure to check out our own thoughts on the title.
