The end is nigh, folks, and Dark Souls III‘s second and final expansion, The Ringed City, now has a release date: March 28th.
Introducing an entire new region to From Software’s RPG – replete with new enemies, weapons, and armor – The Ringed City follows up on last year’s Ashes of Ariandel DLC, where players were tasked with exploring the frozen land of Ariandel and its many mysteries. For its last hurrah, Dark Souls III will soon thrust budding explorers out of the freezer and into the frying pan for an adventure that promises new horrors, ancient beasts, and a cast of characters “teetering on the edge of insanity.”
Per Bandai Namco:
“At the close of the Age of Fire, as the world ends and all lands converge upon themselves, a lone adventurer descends into the madness of the earth and uncovers the secrets of the past. As players make their way to the fabled Ringed City they will encounter ancient beasts, a new cast of characters teetering on the edge of insanity, new armor, weapons, magic, and at the bottom of it all, a long lost city filled with new horrors for players to overcome.”
In tandem with today’s announcement, the publisher also confirmed plans to release the comprehensive Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition on April 21st. Bundling together the core RPG with its two expansions, so far Bandai Namco has confirmed the premium package for Europe and Asia, though we’ll be sure to update this post if and when the publisher announces a North American release date.
The Ringed City will cap off Dark Souls III‘s post-launch content – and presumably From Software’s RPG trilogy – when the expansion launches for PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 28th, 2017. It’ll be priced at $14.99 on its own, while those who have the $24.99 Season Pass will be able to access the add-on the moment it goes live in two months’ time.
