Telltale Games officially named and dated the third season of their award-winning The Walking Dead series over the weekend. As part of the developer’s presence at PAX West, the panel confirmed that the follow-up to 2013’s second season is titled A New Frontier and will premiere on PC, Mac, consoles and mobile devices in November.
Set a few years after the closing moments of the original season, A New Frontier will see the return of series protagonist Clementine, albeit in an older, wiser and more battle-hardened capacity. The once-innocent returning character won’t be the only playable character this time around, however.
Details released back in July at the San Diego Comic-Con confirmed that new survivor Javier will join Clem in the eternal struggle against the undead horde, stating that, “you’ll be playing as both characters, although you may not be playing each character within the same frame of time…”
Set to be released on digital and physical formats at the same time, the latter will come with a code to redeem a season pass for each episode as they become available.
Telltale’s second season of The Walking Dead may not have managed to reach the lofty heights of the original’s five-episode thriller, but there’s every chance this could be the best one yet, especially with the introduction of some new blood.
