It’s no secret that Rockstar Games has been dragging its feet when it comes to story DLC for Grand Theft Auto V, but during Take-Two’s recent earnings call, the publisher cast doubt over whether the content was being made at all. Speaking during the meeting, CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that beyond the recent release of Heists, Take-Two is unclear of Rockstar’s plans for future content.
That was two days ago. In the time since, the company has released an official statement denying Zelnick’s claims that there was nothing in the pipeline in terms of add-on content, and that Rockstar Games will reveal said expansion when it is fit and ready.
“Strauss misspoke during today’s call, as over a year ago Rockstar Games had said that they were exploring story mode content for Grand Theft Auto V; however, no further information has been released since. As always, we leave it to Rockstar Games to share information about their games when they’re ready.”
While it is strange that Zelnick would mistakenly deny the DLC’s existence, fans of Grand Theft Auto V can rest assured that Rockstar will continue the story of Trevor, Michael or Franklin – or indeed a separate, all-new character – at some point in the near future. Besides, considering that the studio allocated resources for the title’s PC port along with those aforementioned Heist mission, it’s understandable if Rockstar is playing its card close to its chest until it has a feasible release date locked down.
