During Nintendo’s Direct press conference, president Satoru Iwata gave us a first glimpse at the next Super Smash Bros. game. The latest game in the series is currently in the works for both the 3DS and the Wii U, and has some serious heavy hitters involved in its development, as Namco Bandai has signed on to aid the project.
Masahiro Sakurai still seems to be the lead developer, but producer Kobayashi and Yoshito Higuchi, the director of the Tales series, are also contributing.
We’re still a long way out from seeing how this is going to play out, but any news regarding Super Smash Bros. is good news, right?
This shouldn’t cause too much alarm. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was co-developed by Monolith Soft (Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenosaga), Paon (DK King of Swing,) and Game Arts (Grandia series, Lunar series).
