Nintendo of America has announced that two new Wii U bundles — New Super Mario Bros. U and Skylanders Swap Force — will replace the current “Deluxe” version of the console this November.
Launching on November 1st across North America for $299, the Mario-themed Wii U bundle will include a black 32GB Deluxe console and two Mario games — New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U — on a single disc. This Wii U bundle permanently replaces the existing Nintendo Land model, however, Nintendo will still sell the standalone game via retail and the eShop for $29.99.
The Skylanders Swap Force bundle goes on sale on November 15th for $299, and includes a “Basic” 8GB white Wii U, a Skylanders Swap Force starter pack, and a copy of Nintendo Land. While this bundle doesn’t include the higher internal storage model of the console, the inclusion of the Skylanders starter pack means you are also getting three figures, the “portal of power” accessory, stickers, trading cards, and a poster in addition to Swap Force.
These two new hardware bundles join the current limited-edition Deluxe The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD offering, to give fans three different $299 Wii U versions to choose from this Holiday season.
With a decent library of titles finally available for the Wii U, and a the recent $50 price drop, now seems to be a pretty good time to pick up Nintendo’s latest console. Of course, that is assuming you don’t already have all your video game money tied up in becoming a beta tester for the PlayStation 4 and/or Xbox One.
