Today, Capcom have officially unveiled the opening cinematic for their upcoming Street Fighter V and, unsurprisingly, it’s pretty epic. But who could be surprised by that? The studio themselves note that Street Fighter games always have spectacular intro scenes, and it’s very clear that they are keen to continue with that trend.
The cinematic is typically bombastic and action-packed, flashing between clips of the series’ iconic fighters locked in heated battles. The slick, painted style floods the screen with colour and the whole thing plays out gorgeously. It’s likely that there is more of this to come as well; the thirty second clip is shorter than in previous games and so it’s highly likely that this is a mere tease of what’s to come in the final version of the title.
Street Fighter V is set for release in February 2016 for Playstation 4 and Microsoft Windows. The game will feature sixteen playable fighters at release – four of which will be new to the series – with a further six set to become available after launch. It will also reportedly feature cross-platform play across the PS4 and Windows devices.
