Here’s what you’ve missed out on.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Offer Ends 7 PM EST 7/12/12- $7.49 – Human Revolution was a contender for game of the year with many critics last year, and for good reason. It’s a daunting task to make a sequel to one of the games that’s considered a pillar of PC gaming, even more so when you take into account that the previous attempt went over as roughly as the Hindenberg. Human Revolution didn’t just meet the expectations of the franchise, it surpassed them. The game is outright brilliant in almost every way.

I played through as a stealth/hacker character, and while this hindered me in the boss battles (we’ll get to that in a second) I was able to break into every computer in the game and understand every little nuance of what was going on all the while not killing a single person. And not once did I feel bored or overwhelmed by the information, I still wanted more to see exactly who I could and couldn’t trust. My friend didn’t quite have the pacifist morals that I did and left literal piles of corpses on the streets, and while he may be a bit of a sociopath, he loved the game as well.

The only negative I have to say about this game are the boss battles, which were admitted to be outsourced and subpar by Edios. This isn’t an excuse for having to completely abandon every tactic I had been using for 12 hours to fight an out of place boss, but it does lessen the blow to hear an apology for it. The Missing Link expansion more than made up for this faux pas and rounded out the game fantastically. Considering you can get both the game and expansion for roughly 11 bucks, there’s no good reason to pass this up if you’ve somehow managed to not play it thus far.

Mafia II – Offer Ends 9 PM EST 7/12/12 – $7.49 – It wouldn’t be a Steam Sale without Mafia II being on sale. Seriously, this game seems to constantly be on sale. That being said, it is a quality title and this is the standard “sale price”. The game has some awkward mechanics that will cause you to sit back and wonder “what were they thinking”, as well as being the most linear sandbox title outside of L.A.Noir. If you’re desperate for a new sandbox title, you could certainly do worse. However, I’d bet my luxurious mustache that Just Cause 2 will make an appearance sometime during this sale, and probably for around $2.50. Hold off for that.

SpaceChem – Offer Ends 11 PM EST 7/12/12 – $2.49 – Few games have made me feel like such an idiot as SpaceChem has been able to. I’ve had this game in my library for around a year now, and I still don’t think I’ve progressed beyond the first few levels. Being tasked to design a reactor to build a chemical reaction is as difficult as it sounds, but it’s not impossible. Unless you’re willing to sit down and put in the time to really master the game and understand what it’s asking you to do, there’s really nothing worth your money here.

Darksiders – $4.99 – 12 AM EST 7/13/12 – Darksiders is perhaps the best Zelda game you’ve ever played that’s not officially a Zelda game. Hell, the closest thing I can compare it to other than that would be Okami, and that’s putting it in some stellar company. This action RPG was a huge hit in the We Got This Covered bunker, and there have been no less than three competitions to see who will be allowed to review its upcoming sequel. (I still stand by my statement that if Chad had allowed Sylvester Stallone to tutor me on arm wrestling I would have destroyed him.) The combat is visceral, the platforming is tight and the story is engaging. I highly recommend this one.

Spellforce 2 – $6.80 – 11 AM EST 7/13/12 – It’s always refreshing to see a game I know absolutely nothing about pop up, although it makes it hell to be an objective journalist. The FPS/RPG title doesn’t necessarily stand out as stellar for either of those, but in combination it makes for an enjoyable experience. Sadly, I simply do not know enough to give it a fair assessment, so if you’ve put your hands on it let us know what you think in the comments.

Sanctum – $2.50 – 12 AM EST 7/13/12 – Sanctum seems to go on sale fairly regularly, but don’t take that to mean that it’s a bad game. With a sequel in the making, I have to think this is more marketing towards that than anything else at this point. The first person tower defense game offers a unique take allowing players to get a more FPS feel while still staying true to the core gameplay you’ve come to expect out of the genre. If you’re looking for a great game that you can play for 5-20 minutes spurts, you could certainly do worse than Sanctum, but seeing as it is going on sale for this price fairly regularly, it’s hard for me to fully recommend it right now.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II – $4.99 –11 :00AM EST 7/13/12 – This is not the Star Wars game you are looking for. The Force Unleashed II was a fairly large letdown when it first released in October of 2010. The story was forced, the combat was repetitive and the level design was uninspired to put it bluntly.  It reeked of a title rushed through development for a quick cash in.  There hasn’t been much improvement to the title over the years, and even at $4.99 it’s a bit of a stretch considering all of the other fantastic titles we’re likely to see over the course of the sale.  Hardcore Star Wars fans will probably enjoy diving into the lore, corny as it may be, but everyone else can safely let this one pass.

Rayman Origins– Offer Ends 1 AM EST 7/13/12 and 9 PM EST 7/21/12  – $14.99 – Rayman Origins is the best game you’ve never played. How do I know you never played it? Because only about 12 people bought it. Sure, I’ve heard the excuses.

“Chaz, I don’t have time”

“Chaz, money has been tight”

“Chaz, what are you doing in my closet again?”

None of these are valid, and frankly you’re dodging the question with the last one. Rayman stands out as a fantastic 2D platformer reminiscent of everything that made you love video games growing up, and the hand drawn art style is to die for. I would have liked to see it drop down another 5 bucks, but even at this price this should be a must have for just about everyone. Quite frankly, if you don’t play Rayman Origins, you’re a bad gamer and you should feel bad

Warlock: Master of the Arcane – Offer Ends 1 AM EST 7/13/12 – $6.79 –Warlock is a turn based strategy game with a few fantasy RPG elements thrown into the mix. It’s a solid game, however it’s going to cater to a fairly specific audience. Turn based strategy fans could be better suited waiting for Civilization V and its expansions to go on sale if they’re willing to part with a bit more of their coin. However, fans of the genre who have exhausted the more traditional routes will find a refreshing game here certainly capable of stealing you away for a few hours.

Back To The Future – $6.24 – Offer Ends 3 AM EST  7/13/12 – As a game, it’s hard to recommend Back To The Future. Point and click games are a hard sale for modern gamers as it is, and this isn’t Telltale’s finest offering. However, as a fan of the movies, this is a fairly easy sell. Back To The Future is as close as we will get to a fourth film, and all of the signature humor from the trilogy is present. It certainly isn’t going to be the best thing we’ll see on sale this go around, but you certainly could do worse.

Saints Row 3 – $12.49 – 3 AM EST 7/13/12 and 7 PM 7/18/12 – Saints Row 3 sophomoric, over the top and immature. In other words, it’s amazing. Saints Row 3 is essentially the video game equivalent of shouting “Fuck Yeah!” while riding a tiger through town while holding an American Flag while smoking oversized cigars. The soundtrack is absolutely stellar, the gameplay is tight, there’s really not anything bad to say about this game, especially at this price. During the winter sale, I remarked that if the game was 25 bucks it would be a must buy. At 13, you really owe it to yourself if you’re a fan of sandbox games.

All of the DLC is also on sale, but there’s simply so much there that you don’t really need. The outfit/weapon packs are fun, but they’re simply window dressing. Consider the Season Pass for all of the crucial DLC, or just enjoy the vanilla game since there’s much to be had with it.

Trine 2 – 3.74 – 11 AM EST 7/13/12 – The community has spoken, and they’re two for two on picking some pretty solid games. Trine 2 is a solid puzzle game that masquerades as an action/platformer. The three characters you’ll be tasked with getting across stages are really three different puzzle mechanics you’ll have at your disposal, with the added bonus of having a storyline built around them. The visuals are simply breathtaking, the physics feel spot on and with the addition of multiplayer it becomes an experience that has to be played to be understood. Pick this one up.

Hoard – $2.50 – 5 PM EST 7/13/12 – Have you ever felt bad for the dragons when playing Skyrim? Than have I got a title for you. In Hoard you play as the dragon as you raze villages, kidnap princesses, ignite knights and slay thieves. The game isn’t very deep, but what it does it does well. The multiplayer is a blast and stealing from your friends treasury as he’s looting a city never gets old. This game will probably be on one of the indie bundles later on in the week, so I’d advise you to pick it up then when you get some extra games to boot.

Super Street Fighter IV – $9.99 – 7 PM EST 7/13/12 – Street Fighter really needs no introduction.  The penultimate fighting game has been entertaining gamers for 20 years now and it’s hard for me to imagine someone who hasn’t come across it.  The PC port isn’t stellar, there can be some issues with hacking and without a controller the game isn’t all that enjoyable.  This is one of the few times I’ll say this but get this is on a console if at all possible instead.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 – $2.49 – 7 PM EST 7/13/12 – GRAW 2 may be a bit dated now, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of enjoyment to be had here.  The futuristic third person shooter was ahead of its time in many ways when it released in 2007, and it’s fun playing through it seeing how much of what they innovated has become par for the course.  Don’t expect it to necessarily wow you like some of the newer games, you’ve probably been spoiled a bit, but for 2.50 shooting fans will have an absolute blast seeing how far we’ve come in 5 years.

Worms: Reloaded – $4.99 – 9 PM EST 7/13/12 – The cute strategy game that is worms is a perfect way to end friendships.  (I don’t care Chris, that TNT was still cheap!) Players take turns maneuvering their worms around the map and launching attacks in hopes of either blowing up their opponent or knocking them off the map.  Sadly, more often than not this ends up in blowing up yourself.  The game is a blast and if you’ve never played a Worms title, 5 bucks is a pittance for the enjoyment you’ll get from it.

Half Life – $1.99 – $9.99 – 9 PM EST 7/13/12 – What can I say about the Half-Life franchise that hasn’t been said a million times before?  The penultimate PC franchise has been around since 1998, and may as well be required material for all PC gamers.  If you’ve somehow missed out on playing through the franchise, Half-Life 2 s arguably the high point of the series.  You really can’t go wrong with any of these games, although I’d recommend against Blue Shift and Opposing Force for beginners.

Toy Soldiers – $2.49 – 1 AM EST 7/14/12 – Toy Soldiers is a perfect example of what to look out for during this sale.  Toy Soldiers isn’t a bad game, but it’s nothing spectacular.  It’s a casual strategy Xbox port that isn’t exactly up to snuff when it comes to what we should expect from a PC release.  It’s only $2.50, but save that money for something better over the next few days.

Lara Croft – $3.74 – 1 AM EST 7/14/12 –  It’s hard to believe that I actually have to pluralize decades when talking about the Tomb Raider franchise now, but the titles have earned their place.  Anniversary is worth looking into as it’s essentially a remake of the first title with some upgrades, and does a great job of reminding us why Tomb Raider has stuck around so long

Bejeweled 3 – $4.99 – 3 AM EST 7/14/12 – Bejeweled is a casual puzzle game where you match up similar jewels to score points. More than likely, you’ve either played a Bejeweled game or something similar. There’s a lot of fun to be had and it’s always great to have a game you can play for 5-10 minutes when you need to kill some time. I’d hold off personally, mostly because I have a Bejeweled title on my phone though. You certainly could do worse than throwing your money at this one.

Alan Wake Franchise – $9.99 – 10 AM EST 7/14/12 – Alan Wake is a bit of a favorite around here. The horror game’s immersion is second to none, and the narration should be used as a benchmark for a lot of future titles. The story is told over the course of six episodes and would have had no problem finding success as a suspenseful thriller on primetime TV. The game has had phenomenal critical success, but failed to make a massive impact on the general market, leaving it as somewhat of a cult classic. I’m willing to bet we’ll see Amnesia show up later on to add some more variety to this sale, but as for now this is certainly a game worth playing.

Alice: Madness Returns – $4.99 – 1 PM EST 7/14/12 – As much as I enjoyed the original Alice title, I had high expectations forMadness Returns and I was let down at almost every point. The game at its core is only 7-8 hours, but the developers felt they had to pad it to almost three times that in order to justify calling it a full game. This left us with a tedious title little to offer outside of a colorful world. Diehard fans of the franchise may get a kick out of it, but it may be safer just to replay the original.

Football Manager 2012 – $7.49 – 10 AM EST 7/14/12 – This is one of those niche titles that it really doesn’t matter what I say. If you’re the type of player whose interested in sports management simulators, you’re already aware that Football Manager is considered the best of the genre. If looking at page after page of stats trying to maximize your teams output for the next 7 years sounds boring to you, there’s no real reason to look any further. It’s not unheard of to see people lose hundreds of hours into these games, but they’re certainly not for everyone.

Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition – $9.99 – 1 PM EST 7/14/12 – While it’s easy to mistake this as a Madden knock off at first glance, or even a new Mutant League Football (EA WHY HAVEN’T YOU GIVEN ME THIS), Blood Bowl is actually a turn based table top game brought to the PC. The game will play closer to Warhammer than any sports game, and is well worth it for any fans of table top games in general. This faithful rendition plays well and really doesn’t have anything quite like it on the market.  There is an option to play it as a more straight forward sports title, there’s nothing really remarkable about it in that aspect.  My main complaint here is that this game has gone for $7.50 in previous sales, so I find it hard to give it a full recommendation knowing that it could go lower in the future.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations – $13.59 – 3 AM EST 7/14/12 and 1 AM EST 7/23/12-  This is going to sound strange, but stay with me.  You should buy Assassin’s Creed Revelations for the multiplayer.  I know, I’m speaking heresy, but here me out.  I’m assuming you’ve played one of the titles along the line.  They’re all fantastic games, and you can’t really go wrong with any of them.  Revelations wasn’t a gigantic leap forward for the series outside of great improvements to the multiplayer.  I’ve never played a multiplayer game quite like this, the closest I can think of is The Ship.  You have to talk your opponents using all of the tricks you’ve learned throughout the game in order to stay alive.  The stealthier your kill, the more points you’ll rack up.  It’s really an incredible experience trying to blend in with a crowd knowing that two of the people around you are out for your blood.  I haven’t checked in for a while, so I’m not quite sure how the community is right now, but the experience is worth the price of admission.  This is a great way to bide your time until Assassin’s Creed 3 hits later this year.

Ys Origin – $7.99 – 5 PM EST 7/14/12– This is a great little find. Ys Origin is a fantastic little RPG that flew under the radar of even the most astute gamer when it hit steam in May. The top down action RPG holds it’s own against almost any of the larger titles out there, easily justifying it’s $20 price tag normally. For 8 bucks, it’s very hard not to recommend it, however I would strongly advise you to have a gamepad in order to help the more difficult platform sections.

Brink – $4.99 – 7 PM EST 7/14/12 – The Brink hype train derailed killing a sleeper car full of nuns and orphans when it released, and it never really recovered. It’s decidedly not a bad game, but when it was announced it was promised to be the next big thing and was crushed under the thumb of Team Fortress 2. The team objectives are fun, and the gunplay is on point, but while games like Super Monday Night Combat and Team Fortress 2 are free, I can’t really justify spending 5 bucks on what can feel like a cheap clone at times. When it was on sale during the Winter Sale, I made a journalistic copout and gave it a resounding maybe. 7 Months later and hardly a peep from the community, I’m willing to give this a pass.

Plants Vs Zombies – $2.49 – 7 PM EST 7/14/12 – I’m shocked that this won the community voting. Not because it’s a bad game, that couldn’t be further from the truth. But simply because I have a hard time believing that there are poele on this planet who haven’t already played Plants VS Zombies. The casual puzzle game is a fun distraction and is perfect when you only have a few minutes to kill, but is engaging enough to keep you glued to your monitor for an hour. I’m not really proud of how much time I’ve spent killing zombies with peas, and I’m sure the problem will get worse before it gets better. Grab this game today.

Sam & Max – $12.49 – 9 PM EST 7/14/12 – Sam & Max can be a hard sell to today’s gamers. Point and click adventure games have more or less gone the way of the dodo, and to be honest that’s really a shame. TellTale are masters of the format, and Sam & Max has been considered one of their top franchises. There’s plenty here to love if you enjoy the format, but if that type of game doesn’t appeal to you I’m not sure that this would change your mind. Heathen…

Renegade Ops – $3.74 – 9 PM EST7/14/12- I’m a huge fan of twin stick shooters. Every since Smash TV destroyed my allowance as a kid, I’ve been infatuated with the genre. Renegade Ops is a prime example of everything that can be done right in one of these titles. The online multiplayer is tight, the shooting is intense and there is an absolute crap load of explosions. This is a game that will entertain you from the moment you fire it up until the second you finish it. The controls are a bit muddy at times, but if you’ve got a gamepad this could be your next favorite game.

Knights of the Old Republic – $2.50 – 1 AM EST 7/15/12 and 11 AM EST 7/22/12  – One of the all-time greats RPG’s, Knights of the Old Republic is the yardstick that all other Star Wars games are measured against. The graphics may not have aged gracefully, and there are some mechanics that feel clunky by today’s standards, but anyone willing to look past this will find a stellar title waiting for them This is definitely worth picking up.

The Witcher II – $15.99 – 1 AM EST 7/15/12 and 11 PM EST 7/22/12 – The Witcher II is one of the best RPG’s to come to the PC in years. In fact, it was our PC Game Of The Year last year. Everything is done to perfection here. The story is compelling, your choices carry weight, and the environment is drop dead gorgeous. It is a bit tasking, so you may want to make sure your computer meets the minimum specs. I would have liked to see this go just a bit cheaper, but as stellar of a title as this is I really can’t be upset. This is one of those games that you might find yourself still playing by the time the Winter Sale comes around.

Fray – $14.99 – 12 PM 7/15/12 – Quick!  Name a game that loads to 135%, crashes, and is the equivilant of the kid on Xbox Live that claims to have slept with your mother”!  If you said Fray, I’m assuming you’ve been punished by this title already.  Since the crashing is arguably the best part of this game, I’m going to suggest an alternative.  If you need a turn based strategy game, get Frozen Synapse.  If you don’t want to do that, take a twenty dollar bill out of your pocket and set it on fire.  That’s by far more interesting than anything you’ll find here.

Left 4 Dead 2 – $4.99 – 3 AM EST 7/15/12 and  9 PM EST 7/19/12– It boggles my mind to think that these titles have been around since 2008. This multiplayer coop shooter still thrills players with precise gunplay and it’s excellent pacing. The multiplayer community has been pretty fantastic, and there are a ton of custom maps waiting for you if you’re willing to dig through them. You can play single player with three bots as teammates, but you can also eat pizza with chopsticks. Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. 5 bucks is a steal for the amount of fun to be had in this game. Gather up a few friends and get to work.

Civilization Bundle – $24.99 – 11 AM EST 7/15/12 as well as 3 AM EST 7/17/12– I’m a huge Civ fan.  As far as I’m concerned, this series is the pinnacle of the turn based strategy genre.  Civilization IV still has a huge following, yet I have to admit I enjoy V a bit better.  This bundle is a great way to jump into the franchise since you’ll get III-V as well as most of the DLC for V.  The Gods and Kings expansion isn’t included in this bundle sadly, so I recommend holding off to see if that gets a discount later on in the sale. This really is a pretty good price to grab everything, but if you’re only interested in Civilization V you can buy everything separately for a few bucks less.

Batman Bundle – $24.99 – 1 PM EST 7/15/12 – Let’s be honest here. This bundle is essentially just a random bit of crap for Gotham City Imposters which is a game that has the audacity to charge people for free to play mechanics. It’s a cute title and has a few things going for it, but there’s nothing there really demanding of your money. The Arkham games, however, are some of the (if not the) best superhero titles ever created. Arkham City is $10.19 through this and the brand new Harley Quinn DLC is only $3.39. This is simply a must play for superhero fans. The short DLC is hard to justify at 10 bucks, but right now this is a no brainer. Arkham Asylum is only $6.79, and if you’ve missed out on it this so far this is a prime time to pick it up. The rest of the Arkham City DLC’s value depends on how much time you want to spend in the challenge modes.

Theatre Of War Collection – $12.49 – 11 AM EST 7/15/12 as well as 7 PM EST 7/17/12– Theatre of War desperately wants to be Men of War. It tries so hard I have to ask why someone would prefer the imitator as opposed to playing the real thing, especially since Theatre of War has performance issues on even the most beastly of rigs. There’s a lot of time left in the sale, pass on this in hopes that something better comes up.

Painkiller – $7.49 – 1 PM EST 7/15/12 – Painkiller is something that could only really exist in the world of video games. This is an old school FPS in the same vein of Serious Sam and Doom. There’s none of the fancy additions to the genre we’ve seen recently. It’s simply you, a plethora of people begging to be murdered and all sorts of fascinating ways to help you meet their pleas. There’s not really much more to say, honestly. It’s a good, all-American old fashioned murder party, and it’s a blast. However, the sequels fall about as far from the tree as you could imagine. There is absolutely no reason to look into Redemption, Ressurection, or Recurring Evil unless you’re either a die hard fan of the franchise (and in this case probably aren’t reading this right now) or if you’re a masochist on a budget. Get the Black Edition for $2.50 and do what the rest of us do, pretend the rest of the games never happened.

L.A. Noire – $4.99 – 11 AM EST 7/15/12 – I’m sure I’m going to anger some people with this, but I really think the community got it wrong on this one. L.A. Noire was an incredible experiment, but it’s really not a very good game. Sure, it looks fantastic and the new techniques used to render the facial animations are absolutely amazing, but there’s not a lot of meat on the bones otherwise. The story is extremely linear, most of the characters are downright unlikeable and the story has holes big enough to drive a truck through. If your detective skills aren’t up to snuff, you’re punished by the game withholding parts of the story from you, which seems to lead to players following a walkthrough religiously in order to know what’s going on. I’ve heard some people say they loved the game, but I can’t really understand why for the life of me. If you look at it as an interactive movie, you’re five bucks could definitely do worse, but most people would be safe to pass on this one.

Magicka – $2.50 – 5 PM EST 7/15/12 – Magicka, or as it is known around here the friendship ender. The realistic wizard simulator is a fantastic game where you and up to three buddies set out in a colorful world in search of spells, loot, and maybe even a bit of saving the world. The game is funny without being obnoxious, it’s novel control scheme fits into the world perfectly and is a delight to look at. However, most of this won’t matter once you get into a battle, forget how to do your spells correctly and accidentally nuke your friend right off the map. Of course it was an accident, you wouldn’t do that right after he picked up that awesome sword, would you?

This is a game made for co-op. Talk to a few of your more level headed friends (or that one guy who flies off the handle at everything to see what happens after he blows himself up for the 50^th time) grab a few drinks and set a few hours aside for this. It’s well worth it.

Legend of Grimrock – $5.99 – 7 PM EST 7/15/12 and 1 AM EST 7/23/12 – Grimrock is an old-school dungeon crawler that isn’t afraid to murder you and your family. It plays out as a homage to everything that was great about PC gaming while updating some of the mechanics to open it up to the modern markets. The title plays out in real time while adding in a bit of a point and click atmosphere. If you’re a hardcore PC gamer, you have to pick this one up.

QUBE – $3.74 – 7 PM EST 7/15/12 – Puzzle platformers have been all the rage ever since Portal blew the door wide open. The problem with this, is that all games are now compared to the Portal series, and that’s simply not fair. QUBE can’t hold its own against Valve’s behemoth, but there’s a very good game to be found here. The innovative gameplay has you interacting with assorted cubes to get through what I can only assume is some sort of laboratory, each having different mechanics. Some you can use as springs to fling you across the map, others are based off magnets and you’ll have to time your jumps with them to get through. The game requires patience and skill to get through, but is never unfair. If you’re looking for a new puzzle platformer and have already played through both Portals and Quantum Conundrum, this should merit a look. I highly suggest trying out the demo beforehand though. You’ll know if this is the type of game that will annoy you within 10 minutes.

Microsoft Flight – $16.99 – 9 PM EST 7/15/12 – This is just a bit misleading. Microsoft Flight is a free to play flight simulator, what you’re buying here are assorted DLC’s adding either new maps or aircraft. There’s really not much for me to say here, honestly. Flight simulators are awesome for people who love flight simulators, but for others anything that doesn’t explode on a regular basis is a waste of time. Download the game for free, and if it’s still something you’re interested in go from there.

Vessel – $3.74 – 10 PM EST 7/15/12 – I love it when a game comes up that I know absolutely nothing about. Especially with indie games, there is such a wide variety of what’s available that I never know what’s really waiting for me. Vessel is an interesting puzzle game where water can be a living organism known as “Fluros”, and they’ve been destroying the factories they were designed to operate. The bulk of this game is manipulating different liquid elements in order to solve puzzles, with some light platforming mechanics. The game does have a few graphical hiccups, but on the whole it’s extremely impressive considering it’s normal $14.99 price point. With every Steam Sale, there are a few times you just have to roll the dice and hope for the best, and after my (admittedly limited) hands on with this tile I think it’s safe to assume this is one of those times. Download the demo to see if it does anything for you, but fans of indie puzzlers should heavily consider picking this up.

Killing Floor – $4.99 – 1 AM EST 7/16/12 – Killing Floor is a fantastic co-op game that everyone needs to experience. The 6 player games offer some of the most fantastic design of games and levels with a great sound experience as well. The game harkens back to PC games of old with no crosshairs, no regenerating health and characters that are friendly weak. With this every match game is genuinely tense and you have to rely on your team mates if you want to make it go through.

Monkey Island: Special Edition Bundle – $3.74 – 1 AM EST 7/16/12 – The Monkey Island games are the best point and click adventure games ever created, bar none. It’s hard to find a funny game that doesn’t resort to crude humor or doesn’t insult your intelligence, but Monkey Island’s story has withstood the test of time. The special editions show off some updated visuals and sounds, but frankly these games are good enough to stand without them for the most part. If you’ve somehow missed out on relic of PC gaming history, now is as a good a time as any to rectify that. Pick this up now and you can thank me later.

Gothic and Arcania Bundle – $24.99 –  3 AM EST 7/16/12 The Gothic games are extremely hardcore European RPG’s, and come with all of the caveats of being such. The UI is cumbersome and some of the mechanics simply feel…off. However, the first two games in the series were good and definitely worth looking into, however the quality drops off sharply past them to the point where it’s not worth your time or money unless you’re deeply embedded in the franchise.

Bastion– $3.74 – 3 AM EST 7/15/12 – Bastion is one of the very few “must have” titles of this generation. We’ll be talking about Bastion in 10 years the same way people talk about Super Mario RPG now. The action rpg has the most expertly interwoven story as the entire game is described by the Narrator who was easily the one of the best voice actors I’ve ever heard. Seriously, I would listen to that guy read the phone book. The game play is incredibly smooth, the visuals are striking and the game is incredibly fun. There is absolutely zero excuse to miss out on this game.

Dead Space 2 – $4.99 – 11 AM EST 7/16/12 – Dead Space 2 is outright terrifying. Being a lifelong fan of everything horror, few games have been able to make feel outright unsettled while playing. Granted, there is probably a bit too much of a reliance on jump scares, but the overall vibe playing through the game was enough to have be a bit paranoid for my entire romp. My only real complains about the game is that the multiplayer is completely superfluous and the without giving anything away the tail end of the game is a bit weak. If you’re waiting for something TRULY horrifying, wait for Amnesia to drop in price during the sale, but if you like a bit of action with your scares this is right up your alley. Turn off the lights, turn up the volume and remember to tell yourself “it’s only a game”

Prince of Persia – $2.49 – 11 AM EST 7/16/12 The Prince of Persia titles are still some of the best action platformers on the market. The combat is fluid and the platforming itself feel spot on. You can pick up all of the titles for $12.24 in the bundle, but if you’re looking to save a few bucks The Sands of Time is usually considered the highpoint of the series.

Sword of the Stars II – $7.49 – 11 AM EST 7/16/12 – Only the most hardcore of strategy fans will be able to really enjoy Sword of the Stars II. It was rushed to the marketplace in order to make it on shelves for the holiday season last year, and it was evident that an unfinished game was put up there. While there have been patches to rectify some of the issues, but it’s hard for me to believe that they were able to almost rewrite the code for the title post release. Sins of a Solar Empire or the original Sword of the Stars can offer you what was supposed to be done here in a completed format, albeit a bit less pretty.

X Superbox – $9.99 – 1 PM EST 7/16/12 – Have you ever wanted to be an intergalactic smuggler? Of course you did! But ever since the TSA has been around, smuggling even on an unigalatic scale is pretty much frowned upon. (Thanks a lot, Bin Laden). The X series of games will allow you to act out these fantasies without ending up on any of those pesky government lists like I probably just did for this joke. The X Superbox is essentially the entire X collection offered at a discounted price. It’s hard to recommend these games to the average user since their plagued with bugs, repetitive gameplay and an overall lack of polish. There can be some fantastic moments hidden underneath the deluge of issues, however most people will never really get a chance to see them. Save your money for something else.

Fallout New Vegas – $4.99 – 11 AM EST 7/16/12 – My god, do I love Fallout: New Vegas. New Vegas is precisely the game that Fallout 3 should have been in the first place, and by that I mean less attention paid to gloom and doom and a lot more dark comedy. Everything in the game is perfectly in line with Fallout lore, and the amazing attention to the minor details is astounding. I really recommend picking up some of the DLC as well, the ultimate edition is only $9.99. If you’re a fan of open world RPG’s (think Skyrim) but are looking for something with more of post-apocalyptic feel to it, this is the exact game you’ve been looking for.

Total War: Shogun 2 – $7.50 – 5 PM EST 7/16/12 – When Shogun 2 hit $7.50 for the winter sale, I was shocked to see a new title have such a drastic price cut and claimed that it was a must buy for fans of the series. Now that we’re seven months out, the price itself isn’t that awe inspiring, however the game surely is. Shogun stands as a prime launching point for newcomers looking to get into the series, and the streamlined mechanics do a fantastic job of alleviating many of the complaints from veteran players without dumbing down the game. This is worth picking up.

Cave Story + – $2.49 – 7 PM EST 7/16/12 – Cave Story + is an absolutely incredible came. The retro action game would have been considered the best of all time if it had released twenty years ago. Everything about this game is absolutely spot on, the only real negative I can think of is that some younger gamers may be turned off by the 8 bit feel. If you’ve somehow missed out on this one so far, you owe it to yourself to pick it up now.

Red Faction: Guerrilla – $4.99 – 7 PM EST 7/16/12 – Like explosions? Sure, I mean I know you like explosions, but do you REALLY like explosions? If you do, Red Faction: Guerrilla is right up your alley. This sandbox has you right in the middle of the bloody revolution against the Earth Defense Force on the surface of Mars. The story can be sort of bland at times, but the amount of chaos you can create is second to none here. Just about every building can be destroyed, giving you the option to break down walls to find temporary safety or even destroying a floor sending your enemies tumbling to their demise. There’s a lot of fun to be had here, even if I mostly felt I was running through the campaign simply to unlock better weapons to create my own fun with. The only thing I could see being a direct competitor for your money here is Just Cause 2, and even that’s a bit of a stretch. Just Cause 2 is about creating chaos, while Red Faction: Guerrilla is about destroying everything in sight. If I had to choose one, I’d go with Just Cause 2, but there’s no reason you can’t pick this up and have a fantastic time.

Fable III – $12.49 – 9 PM EST 7/16/12  – If you’re familiar with the Fable games, you’re probably familiary of the massive buildup leading to a disappointing title. What Fable III does well, it does really well, however the overall game left me wanting. While the game puts you in a position to feel like you’re making an impact and changing the world, nothing of importance changes no matter what decisions you make. On top of that the promised multiplayer is absolutely horrendous on the rare occasions it works.. Pass on this game, better ones are coming.

F.E.A.R.3 – $4.99 – 1 AM EST 7/17/12 – I didn’t expect to enjoy Fear 3 (I outright refuse to call it F.3.A.R.) nearly as much as I did. The cooperative shooter has very little going for it in the ways of horror, but in terms of gunplay it’s more than passable. Playing through the campaign cooperatively with a buddy was an absolute blast, and since both characters have slightly different abilities there was a lot more teamwork than I would have expected. The game really wants to be a psychologically haunting horror game, but it never really was able to cement itself in that roll. I’m not sure if I’m just that jaded towards horror, or if it was trying to be tame in order to attract a wider audience, but there’s nothing here horror wise to write home about. For 5 bucks though, it’s a pretty fun game, doubly so if you’ve got a buddy to play with. If the previous F.E.A.R. games didn’t do anything for you, you can safely pass here, but if you have even a passing interest in the series this should be something worth picking up.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent – $4.99 – 3 AM EST 7/17/12 – Amnesia is one of, if not the, best horror games I have ever played. The game has the ability to wreak absolute havoc on your imagination, essentially turning you into worst enemy. The game obviously isn’t an AAA title, but that’s really part of the charm. Frictional Games was able to work within their limited budget and create something truly spellbinding. I would recommend that you play this at 2 in the morning with the lights out, but after being told by my neighbors that my girlish screaming was keeping them up I had to change my habits. This game is absolutely terrifying, and is decidedly worth the five bucks. Pick this one up immediately, and know that I’m wishing you the best of luck.

Mirror’s Edge – $4.99 – 3 AM EST 7/17/12 Mirror’s Edge was one of those games that never really got a fair break. It was the first first-person-platformer I can recall that actually worked. The free running mechanics are absolutely perfect, there’s a real feeling of speed and fluidity in your movements and everything you do seems to carry significant weight. The game came under a fair bit of criticism for some repetitive areas, lackluster environments and issues with Faith not grabbing ledges unless the jump was perfectly on point. There have even been issues of players having a bit of motion sickness while playing, something I can attest although I was already sick when I fired up the game. The biggest surprise for me was to see how well the game controlled with a mouse and keyboard, although a controller is still recommended. There’s really nothing like this on the market, and with a rumored sequel in the works this is a perfect time to see what all of the fuss is about.

Europa Universalis III – $3.74 – 11 AM EST 7/17/12 – The Europa games are extremely in depth strategy games usually catering to a pretty hardcore demographic. Paradox earned their stripes as one of the leading developers of PC strategy games, and Europa has been somewhat of a crown jewel for them. The AI is extremely intelligent and challenging without ever falling into the caveat of being overly aggressive. With over 250 countries to play as and roughly 1,700 provinces available to be conquered, this is one of the largest games on the market with a near endless amount of replay value. The problem for most gamers will be that the initial learning curve is extremely steep, and will more than likely push away the less patient gamers out there. However, if you’re willing to sit down and learn how to play your way through, this could be one of the best strategy titles you’ve ever gotten your hands on.

Pendulo Studios Adventure Pack – $14.99 – 11 AM EST 7/17/12 – Pendeulo Studios focus is on classic point and click adventure games, and while they’re passable there’s nothing here that breaks the mold. For fans of the genre, Runaway is arguable worth the asking price; however more casual fans should try the demo and see if it’s something they want to jump into.

Skyrim – $29.79 – 11 AM EST 7/17/12 – I think you would be hard pressed to find a gamer who isn’t familiar with Skyrim right now. Arguably the biggest release from last year, Skyrim offers a vibrant world and a remarkable RPG experience. The world is massive and lets you create your own story if you’re willing to walk from the beaten path. The vanialla gameplay can be a bit weak but the modding community is absolutely fantastic and has fixed every issue I could dream of. Grab this one now.

Dungeon Siege III – $4.99 – 1 PM EST 7/17/12 – Dungeon Siege III fell flat of almost every one of my expectations when it was released last year. The game is aggressively average and it seems that developers Obsidian Entertainment went out of their way to torpedo any promise it was showing with a plethora of bad ideas. Five bucks is the right asking price for this title, but the game simply doesn’t live up to what it could have been. Ironically enough, the best value here is the Dungeon Siege Complete bundle for $7.49 which comes with the superior Dungeon Siege and Dungeon Siege II, games that aren’t available for purchase otherwise. Check out the demo, and if you’re really in dire need of a dungeon crawler, wait for Torchlight to go on sale later this week.

Crysis Bundle – $17.49 – 1 PM EST 7/17/12 – The Crysis titles have a bit of a legacy, namely that of being some of the most technically demanding games on the market. Even nearly five years after the release of the original, the top comment on YouTube videos about computer hardware is usually something along the lines of “Yeah, but can it run Crysis?” Both games are absolutely breathtaking and feature some stellar gunplay. The original Crysis may actually be the better of the two titles, but you really can’t go wrong here. They may not be the best shooters on the market place, but they’re decidedly worth looking into. Make sure your rig can handle them before you buy in though.

Sniper Elite V2 – $24.99 – 5 PM EST 7/17/12 – The ultra-realistic sniping simulator isn’t a bad game, but it didn’t offer enough to justify its price tag when it was released. Even with this discount, a lot of gamers will feel cheated by the slow paced game and short campaign. The bullet mechanics are spot on, and the gory kill cams are extremely rewarding, especially after pulling off a particularly difficult shot. You can read our full review of the title here, but I highly recommend trying out the demo to see if this type of game will appeal to you.

Double Fine Bundle – $7.49 – 7 PM EST 7/17/12 – Double Fine has created some of the best games of all time, and if you’ve missed out on what they have to offer this is a perfect time to buy in. Stacking is a charming adventure game where you play as a Russian nesting doll and have to highjack other dolls in order to use their abilities and solve puzzles. Costume Quest is a straight forward JRPG about what some kids encounter on Halloween, and while it’s the weakest game in this pack it old school RPG fans easily fall in love with what it has to offer. The star of the show has to be Psychonauts. The action title was released to universal critical claim with its tight platforming, engaging combat and unique world, and it still stands up as one of the better titles out there. You should definitely consider trying these out.

Binary Domain – $12.69 – 9 PM EST 7/17/12 – I’m not sure what to say about Binary Domain really.  I’ve heard some people give it fairly impressive reviews, but I’m still not positive we’ve played the same game.  I would normally say it’s a fairly run of the mill third person shooter cover that tries to use some Mass Effect esque conversations, however this PC port is plagued with issues.  The key bindings are all sorts of screwed up and the mouse acceleration can send your character spinning around like a ballerina with vertigo.  There may be a fantastic game hidden beneath all of its issues, but I’m not sure it’s worth the investment.

Shoot Many Robots – $2.49 – 11 PM EST 7/17/12 – Shoot Many Robots is unbalanced, has difficulty balance, is generic and is mind-numbingly simplistic. I love it. The game’s sense of humor, customization, and challenge makes for a fantastic old school shooter. I highly suggest starting the game with some friends from the beginning to eliminate some of the balance issues lest you’ll find yourself in a game where you’re thirty levels below everyone else and will only annoy the enemies while your partners do all of the work. It’s not a perfect game, hell some would argue it’s not even that good of a game, but it’s mindless fun that will be a great way to kill some time. It’s probably not something you’re going to play months down the road, but is a fine way to kill some time. Grab the four pack for $7.49 to split with your friends.

Duke Nukem Forever – $4.99 – 1 AM EST 7/18/12 –  For everything Duke tried to do right here, and no matter how much I want to support the team, hold on to that five bucks. The game is the very definition of mediocre. We’ll find a better use for it later.

Dungeon Defenders – $3.74 – 1 AM EST 7/18/12 – We’ve covered (get it?) Dungeon Defenders pretty extensively in the past, and for good reason. The multiplayer co-op action tower defense is an amazing game filled with a plethora of loot and amazing aesthetics. The game has an incredible amount of DLC available as well, the highlight being the Quest for the Lost Eternia Shards. There’s no real reason to not try this game, and if you’ve got some friends willing to play you this will be one of the best buys of the entire sale. Download the demo if you’re still unsure, but pick this one up as soon as you can.

Sanctum – $2.50 – 12 AM EST 7/13/12 – Sanctum seems to go on sale fairly regularly, but don’t take that to mean that it’s a bad game. With a sequel in the making, I have to think this is more marketing towards that than anything else at this point. The first person tower defense game offers a unique take allowing players to get a more FPS feel while still staying true to the core gameplay you’ve come to expect out of the genre. If you’re looking for a great game that you can play for 5-20 minutes spurts, you could certainly do worse than Sanctum, but seeing as it is going on sale for this price fairly regularly, it’s hard for me to fully recommend it right now.

Take On Helicopters – $16.99 – 3 AM EST 7/18/12 – Do you know how helicopters fly? They’re so damn ugly the earth pushes them away. Take On Helicopters tries to inject a bit of thrill by having a campaign mode in what is essentially a flight simulator, but to be perfectly frank there’s nothing here worth writing home about there. If you’ve been longing for an ultra-realistic helicopter simulator, this would definitely be worth looking into. However I couldn’t be bothered to finish the demo before I tried to crash land and end the monotony. I can safely say you’re probably better off passing on this one.

Unreal Deal Pack – $9.99 – 11 AM EST 7/18/12 – The Unreal series is one of the most legendary FPS franchises ever to grace your pc. The frenzied shooters offer action at ludicrous speeds unmatched by pretty much everything else on the market. Everything is completely over the top and is a testament to how gloriously insane video games can really be. There isn’t a huge difference between most of the titles outside of a few extra modes and some upgraded graphics, so you could be safe just picking up Unreal Tournament 3 Black or Unreal Tournament 2004, but honestly for the price you’d be better served getting the entire package and having the options available to you. The only issue a new comer will have is that while the community is extremely active, some of the players are stupid good and it may take a bit of practice to be able to stand on your own against them. Pick up these pieces of PC gaming history and I guarantee you’ll have a good time.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth – $2.49 – 11 AM EST 7/18/12 – I will never turn down a chance to talk about Anomaly: Warzone Earth. When I reviewed the game for XBLA back in April, I was shocked to see how much I ended up really enjoying it. It was a title that snuck up on me and I had no idea what to expect when I first fired it up. The RTS/Tower Defense game was downright charming. The story may not have been the most original thing I had ever encountered, but the game was unlike anything I had played before. The reverse tower defense game tasks you with guiding your convoy of tanks through the map carefully using power ups to keep them in action while taking out turrets. With top notch presentation and stellar gameplay, I was only really disappointed with how quickly the experience was over. Even with that in mind, I said it was easily worth 10 bucks. At $2.50, you’d be hard pressed to find a better game for that price point.

Just Cause 2 – $3.74 – 1 PM EST 7/18/12 and 3 AM EST 7/23/12– If you haven’t played Just Cause 2 yet, I demand you buy it right now. Just Cause 2 is everything that is right about video games. To put it in a bit of perspective, after asking a friend of mine for a way to explain it, the only thing he could come up with was “Michael Bay: The Game”. Steal planes, tether them to a truck and take off with your own personal wrecking ball beneath you. This is the perfect game to go in, dick around, and cause absolute mayhem. The modding community is second to none, and there’s a dedicated team of modders busting their asses to bring multiplayer to the game in the near future. Sure, it’s not a perfect game, but any flaws here are grossly outweighed by the sheer amount of fun to be had. To put it simply, this is a must have game. Why? Just ‘cause.

Bioshock – $4.99 – 1 PM EST 7/18/12 – There are two types of games that make me actively wish for brain damage. Those that are so bad that I would consider an icepick through the temple a welcome relief and those which are so good I wish I could forget ever hearing about them so I could play through them for the first time all over again. Bioshock is one of the games from the latter camp. The original is one of my favorite games of this generation, and while the second can’t hold a candle to the original in my opinion, it’s a very competent game in its own right. The FPS gameplay is top notch, however the narrative may very well be among the best ever written for a game. If you’ve never played either of these titles, especially the original, you owe it to yourself to pick them up.

Torchlight – $3.74 – 11 AM EST 7/18/12 – Torchlight ($3.74): Torchlight is a colorful cartoony dungeon crawler made by some of the original developers for Diablo II. While there are only three classes and no multiplayer, it is a phenomenal game offering a good amount of replay value. The game has a stellar sense of humor and style that really make it a joy to dive into. For instance, there’s a unique sword named “Epic Sword of Adam” that does 59 emotional damage, 42 Futuristicness as well as providing 1285 Resistance to logic Logic. If that wasn’t enough, it also shouted “WIZARDS!” whenever you swung it. There’s not part of tying out that sentence that I didn’t enjoy. It is worth noting that Torchlight II is set to be released sometime this summer, and if you preorder it now for $19.99 you’ll get a free copy of the original Torchlight. Minus the fact that it’s missing multiplayer, this is one of the best dungeon crawlers on the marketplace today and is decidedly worth looking into.

The Binding of Isaac – $1.24 – 5 PM EST 7/18/12 – I’ve logged more hours in The Binding of Isaac that I care to admit.The Binding Of Issac is a cross between a rougelike RPG with a topdown shooter and a bit of The Legend Of Zelda thrown in for good measure. You play as Issac who is fighting for his life as his mother has been told to kill him by God. It’s an insane premise, and the game is absolutely bonkers. This isn’t the type of game you’re going to be able to dominate right off the bat, in fact you’re going to die fairly horribly.

It should be noted that this game can push some buttons. It’s easy to understand that some people will be offended at some of the parts of this game, so if a game where you’re a little boy using urine to kill enemies and possibly make deals with demons makes you uncomfortable, you may want to think twice. That being said, it’s an incredibly fun title and is something that should be in every gamer’s collection.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit – $4.99 – 7 PM EST 7/18/12 – Hot Pursuit is a perfect blend of the Need For Speed and Burn Out franchises. The visuals are stellar, the controls are tight and the crashes are absolutely fantastic. Multiplayer is a fast paced game of cops and robbers as one team of racers sprints towards the finish line while another does everything in their power to take them out before they can get there. If that wasn’t enough to keep bringing you back to the table, the Autolog gives you live updates of how your friends are doing and is sure to light the competitive spirit in even the most relaxed drivers. If you’re looking for fast paced action that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Hot Pursuit may be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

Terraria – $2.49 – 11 PM EST 7/18/12 – Terraria has been called the bastard child of Minecraft and Metroid, but certainly stands out as more than just the sum of its parts. While developer Re-Logic has sadly stated that there will be no further upgrades for the title, Terraria decidedly stands out as a deep title. The massive focus on exploring and combat parlayed with the fantastic aesthetics make this a killer go-to title. Add in the fantastic multiplayer where you and a few friends can build up your castle before hunting down some of the end game monsters, and you have a title that everyone can get enjoy. $2.49 seems to be the go to price point for the title now, so if you don’t buy it now it’s safe to assume you’ll find it for this again soon.

Risen 2: Dark Waters – $33.49 – 1 AM EST 7/19/12 – It’s refreshing to see that RPGs are willing to break from the fantasy worlds that so many are stuck in and are willing to take a chance with a lesser used setting. It would have been even more refreshing if they had bothered to do it well. Risen 2 tries so hard to be a good RPG, but it falls flat with some shoddy AI, poor design choices and questionable upgrade mechanics. Sure, there are a tons of skills you can look into upgrading in order to make your swashbuckler the king of the sea, but it feels unless you pick a build similar to what the developers had in mind when they were programming the game you’re going to shoot yourself in the peg leg (haHA…pirate humor). There’s nothing here really demanding of your money right now, and unless you’ve exhausted every other RPG option on the market you can probably pass on this one.

SimCity 4– $4.99 – 3 AM EST 7/19/12 – SimCity 4 is the yardstick that all other city management games are held against. This is your chance to try your hand as a city planner to see if you have what it takes to build up a thriving metropolis while protecting your citizens from traffic jams, volcanoes and the occasional UFO invasion. The game is brilliantly laid out with an extremely comfortable UI which makes it easy for anyone to get settled into the game quickly. This may not be the fast paced action game you’re looking for to raise your pulse rate, but it’s a quality title and definitely worth looking into.

Game of Thrones: The Role Playing Game – $24.99 – 3 AM EST 7/19/12 – You would think that a Game of Thrones game would be a no brainer, but it seems that developer Cyanide Studios would disagree. The world that Game of Thrones takes place in is nothing short of amazing and leaves plenty of room for storytelling, yet somehow the game manages to make this mystical world seem, well boring. There are games on the market infinitely better working within the same fantasy setting (The Witcher 2 immediately springs to mind). Unless you’ve played everything else on the market or an extreme GoT fanboy, there’s nothing here for you. Save that money for something else.

Dragon Age: Origins – $4.99 – 11 AM EST 7/19/12 – When I mentioned that there were better games than Game of Thrones: The Role Playing Game destined to have discounts during the sale, I didn’t expect it to be quite this soon. The original Dragon Age was a fantastic RPG easily capable of devouring countless hours. It’s not a perfect game, there are definitely some issues with the difficulty and combat can be frustrating at times, but the character arcs and lore are unmatched. Pick up the ultimate edition for three bucks more to gain access to all of the DLC, and enjoy one hell of a ride.

DC Universe Online: Power Bundle – $7.49 – 11 AM EST 7/19/12 – Yet another bundle of content for a free game is on sale. DC Universe Online is a MMO set in the world of DC Comics, and while it’s not a bad game it doesn’t have anything that will make a fan out of you. Those of you already playing DC Universe Online should probably pick this up, but everyone else can probably pass on it. Download the game to see if it’s something you want to invest time into.

Tiny & Big: Grandpa‘s Leftovers – $5.99 – 1 PM EST 7/19/12 – Tiny & Big is an interesting little platform game that broke onto the scene earlier this month. The game absolutely oozes personality and charm, but unfortunately it runs out of  ideas right about half way through the game. Even more unfortunate is that’s only about an hour worth of gameplay. I have a hard time recommending it for 10 bucks, but even at 6 it’s not something I can full heartedly get behind. As much as I loved the visual style and soundtrack, a game can’t survive on charm alone. At the end of the day, Tiny & Big: Grandpa‘s Leftovers is a nothing more than a fun distraction game, and there are better ones out there.

BIT.TRIP Collection – $5.49 – 1 PM EST 7/19/12 – Right off the bat, I’m going to warn you that if you buy the games separately without their respective soundtracks, you save 51 cents. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I’m talking about saving you less than a cheeseburger from McDonalds because I know at this point in the sale every penny helps. As for the games themselves, your enjoyment will be based solely on whether or not you enjoy rhythm games. The BIT.TRIP series is fantastic at what it does. The soundtracks are outstanding, and the games are deceptively challenging. Expect to fail pretty often while you’re memorizing the puzzles since reaction speed alone won’t get you through the entire game. I highly recommend picking up these titles; they’re a perfect go to game for when you only have a few minutes to kill

Jurassic Park – $7.49 – 5 PM EST 7/19/12 – Jurassic Park was a noble effort by Telltale Games to continue the story and allow you to live out your childhood dream of running around with dinosaurs. Sadly the game just isn’t very good. The story never really gets exciting and the gameplay is outright boring. It’s a shame, but there’s a reason that the dinosaurs went extinct. Leave this one in the past.

E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy – $2.49 – 7 PM EST 7/19/12 – E.Y.E. is everything that PC gaming is supposed to be. It’s an engaging world with insane things happening around you and allows you to play any way you’d like. You can hack just about everything in the game, but they can also attempt to hack you back. Yes, that means you can hack a door to get access only to anger the door and have it attack. You can start panicking and forget how to fire your weapon. That giant space sea turtle? Impale him with a katana. The game offers multiplayer co-op in a way only PC games can with up to 32 players. It’s completely broken and absolutely insane, however it is there for you. I can’t think of anything I’ve played that’s quite like this, and for the sheer insanity available this is a must buy.

The Longest Journey – $2.49 – 7 PM EST 7/19/12 – The Longest Journey was considered a near perfect adventure game when it was first released. The voice acting was years ahead of its time and the game did an amazing job of pulling you into its world. The visuals haven’t aged well, but if you’re willing to look past that, you’ll be treated to one of the best adventure games ever created. Pick up the The Longest Journey + Dreamfall bundle for $6.24 since Dreamfall answers a lot of those nagging questions you’ll probably have and offers a bit of closure.

Tribes: Ascend Starter Pack – $4.99 – 11 PM EST 7/19/12 – Another booster pack for a free to play game, but this time it’s for a game I really enjoy. Tribes: Ascend is a FANTASTIC free to play game harkening back to the glory days of PC gaming. The combat is fast and fluid, and most importantly skill will beat weaponry 99 times out of 100. The Starter Pack offers a permanent XP boost, 2 class unlocks, and an additional 4 additional weapons to start with. Since leveling up in Tribes can be a bit of a grind, I’d recommend picking this up if you’re interested in the title.

Dead Island – $10.19 – 1 AM EST 7/20/12 and 7 PM EST 7/22/12 – I really wanted to like this game. The initial trailer was downright amazing, the premise seemed unique and it promised to offer something we haven’t had yet. The actual product left a lot to be desired though. The game is essentially a first person brawler with occasional gunplay. The gunplay is subpar and the brawling gets repetitive and stale alarmingly fast. Even discounted to this price, I can’t recommend this title. Pass on this.

Nexuiz – $2.49 – 1 AM EST 7/20/12 – I wanted so bad for Nexuiz to be good.  I really did. The game tried so hard to be everything I wanted. It was destined to be a competitive arena shooter but due to a series of stupid decisions behind the scenes it became a completely forgettable title. The gameplay is unbalanced, there are massive latency issues and the controls never quite feel tight. If that’s not enough, the multiplayer element is completely dead.  You’ll be lucky to find more than a dozen or two users online at any given time.  You can read our official review here if you’re somehow still interested, but save that money for something more entertaining.  Like laundry.

Beyond Good & Evil – $2.49 – 12 AM EST 7/20/12 – Beyond Good & Evil is one of the best action adventure games ever created. The story is amazing, the characters are fantastic and the action is perfect. The only negative thing I have to say about this game is that it can be a bit tricky getting it to run on Windows 7, but a quick trip to the forums will clear that right up. I simply can’t recommend this game enough, especially at a $2.50 price point. This is the best game you have never played, I can just about guarantee it.

Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate Edition – $4.99 – 3 AM EST 7/20/12 – Don’t let the outdated graphics fool you, Galactic Civilizations II is one of the best strategy titles ever made. The 4X game is essentially Civilization in space. An incredible tech tree, lots of options races and tons of replay value make this a game worth having in your collection. All of the races have very distinct advantages and disadvantages and gives the game a different feel every time you play it. If you’re playing a race of slavers, be prepared to play like a slaver, with all the advantages and disadvantages that that entails. One thing to take note of, the game can be a bit slow paced, especially on the larger galaxies. Clear out a chunk of time in your schedule before you sit down with this one.

Portal 2 – $4.99 – 11 AM EST 7/20/12 and 9 PM EST 7/22/12  – There is no excuse to not have played Portal 2 at this point. This game was easily worth the full price of $49.99 when it came out, and it’s an absolute steal here. Titles such asQuantum Conundrum have tried to bottle up the formula, but nothing manages to stand alone quite like the original. While it is a puzzle game, the voice acting and story work made this one of the top titles of the year. Pick this one up immediately if you have any interest in puzzle games.

Red Faction: Armageddon – $4.99 – 11 AM EST 7/20/12 – As much as I loved Red Faction: Guerrilla, Armageddon felt like a step back for me. It’s not a bad game by any means, but when you give me as much freedom as I had in Guerrilla you can’t expect me to be enthused when some of my toys are taken away. Granted, the magnet gun in Armageddon is one of the most fun weapons I’ve ever had the privilege to play around with. It’s still definitely worth picking up, and this is the perfect time to use some of that cash you saved by passing on the less worth titles. For 15 bucks you can pick up the Red Faction Collection which includes both Armageddon and Guerrilla as well as some DLC and the original two Red Faction titles. If you’re only going to grab one, I’d still recommend Guerilla but you really can’t go wrong with any of your options here.

The Walking Dead – 14.99 – 11 AM EST 7/20/12 – And yet another one of TellTale’s adventure game is here, and it’s another take on pop culture. These have been fairly hit and miss in the past. Back To The Future was a fine story but not that great of a game, and Jurassic Park is usually best not talked about. With The Walking Dead, they knocked it out of the park. The big mechanic in play is player choice. You’re going to be tasked with making difficult decisions, and if you make the wrong ones people will die. This adds a bit to replay value since you can always go back and see what would have happened if you made different decisions, but even more this adds weight to every single thing you do in game. If you’re a fan of either the series or adventure games, this should definitely be something you’re looking into.

Amanita Bundle – $6.24 – 1 PM EST 7/20/12 – Fans of well-made adventure games need look no further for a great buy. Machinarium alone is well worth the price of admission for this bundle, but throwing in Samorost2 and Botanicula makes it a no brainer for fans of the genre. If the idea of a point-and-click game bores you to death, you may want to pass on these, although if I were to choose

Max Payne 3– $29.99 – 1 PM EST 7/20/12 – When Chad reviewed Max Payne 3 he called it ”a must-buy for fans of well-made third-person shooters. It delivers a high-quality, visceral experience, which blends its predecessors’ popular mechanics with some quality improvements.” While I haven’t personally been able to put my hands on the title yet, I have heard nothing but good things from everyone who has. If you’re a fan of the series, this is definitely the time to buy in.

LIMBO – $2.49 – 5 PM EST 7/20/12 – LIMBO is one of the most unique titles on the market. The game is dripping with symbolism and manages to tell a gripping story without having a single word of dialogue. While the visuals are all black and grey, the artists used their limited color palette to masterful levels to create something striking. My one complaint with LIMBO is that there’s no reason to go back and play it once you’ve finished it the first time. Pick this one up since I don’t know if you can get a better story told for this price anywhere else.

Crusader Kings II – $9.99 –7 PM EST 7/20/12 – When I was tasked with reviewing Crusader Kings back in February, I was astounded at how much I enjoyed the title. Even with the massive learning curve, I found myself unable to turn off the game until I finished up one more battle or started one more war. This is definitely not a game for everyone; it has a massive learning curve and does nothing new to convert gamers who hate strategy games. For those of you who are willing to put a bit of work in, you can easily lose hundreds of hours to this title.

Splinter Cell Conviction – $4.99 – 7 PM EST 7/20/12 – Conviction was a strange step forward for the Splinter Cell franchise, but in many ways a welcome one. The game is still very much a stealth game, but the focus is now on action-stealth as opposed to pure stealth. You won’t be spending time hiding bodies in dark corners to creep through the level; instead you’ll be trying to get the drop on enemies from above looking for quick kills. The game’s story focuses more on Sam Fisher himself as opposed to the missions, and manages to tell a great narrative showing a side of Sam we haven’t seen before. Fans of the franchise will find plenty here to love and Conviction is the perfect launching platform for newcomers looking to find out what all of the fuss is about.

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet – $3.74 – 9 PM EST 7/20/12 – Right off the bat, you need to know that Games for Windows Live is required here. Some of you stopped reading right there, for the rest of you there’s a pretty solid platformer here with a solid physics system. It’s an ingenious take on the Metroid-Vania genre adding it a bit more of a puzzle element at times. It’s really a charming title, and I highly recommend looking into it.

Tales of Monkey Island – $8.74 – 11 PM EST 7/20/12 –I would think that it would be hard to screw up something as fantastic as the original Monkey Island games. Then again, I thought putting a baseball in a blender would result in something other than an impromptu game of Dodge The Giant Shards Of Glass Hurdling At Your Eye, so obviously I’m not to be trusted on these matters. The game is inoffensive, but there’s nothing here that hasn’t been done better by the originals. The entire thing reeks of blatant fan service which removes a lot of the charm you’ve grown to love from the original in favor of a “See, we remember that The Secret of Monkey Island was a thing too!” mentality. There’s nothing wrong with paying a bit of homage, but for the majority of this title I couldn’t help but feel they were too preoccupied telling us how great the original games were to actually give us a good game here. If you’re new to the franchise, this isn’t a bad place to start. However, considering the originals were already on sale a few days ago, I have to imagine you would have already picked up the superior titles for a cheaper price tag. I just can’t recommend an average game when there have been so many good games on sale for a cheaper price tag.

Far Cry 2 – $2.49 – 1 AM EST 7/13/12 Far Cry 2 is one of those games that if you ask 10 people their opinion on it, you’re likely to get 11 different answers. The unforgiving open world allows you to tackle situations in whatever way you think would be best, something a lot of developers promise but often fall short of. The game is gorgeous and the unique health management system allows for an unparalleled level of immersion. The world is massive, however this ends up being a fairly major flaw since a large chunk of your time will be spent simply traveling from point A to point B. It’s not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination; however there really isn’t anything out there quite like it. For this price, you’d be silly not to at least look into it.

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box – $3.99 – 1 AM EST 7/21/12 – My gods, do I love Burnout Paradise. I’m not usually a fan of racing games (mostly because I have zero earthly idea of how cars work) but if you’re willing to factor in some explosions, I’m willing to pay attention. Burnout Paradise offers that and so much more. The open world racing game is filled to the brim with white knuckle action and tons of different events. If you’re not interested in playing through the actual events, you can roam around the island creating your own fun as you go. One thing that you need to be aware of is that Criterion has shut down the Burnout Store, so it may be impossible to get some of the DLC to work without resorting to some aftermarket techniques. This really is unacceptable considering you’re paying for the Ultimate Box, albeit at a deeply discounted price. It’s definitely worth picking this game up if you’re looking for a great way to crash some cars with your friends, but be prepared to do a bit of homework if you want the full experience.

Risen – $14.00 – I honestly don’t know all that much about Risen. However, after doing some homework I have to say I’m intrigued. Many fans consider this the true Gothic 4 as it was made by original developers Piranha Bytes. I can’t in good conscience give a recommendation to a game I don’t know much about, but I can say that this game has gone for cheaper and uses a very intrusive TAGES DRM. Go after this one at your own risk

Braid – $2.49 – 3 AM EST 7/21/12 – Braid is one of the most brilliant games I’ve ever played. At first glance, it’s a fairly straight forward puzzle platformer where you must manipulate time in order to get through a series of increasingly challenging maps unlocking puzzle pieces along the way. However, it doesn’t take long for a hidden narrative to become apparent revealing an expertly crafted story that still has people arguing over what exactly happened over three years later. I highly recommend purchasing the soundtrack as well, Jami Sieber’s cello playing is nothing short of a masterpiece. This is a must play for anyone looking for a bit of an intellectual edge in their games.

Borderlands – $4.99 – 11 AM EST 7/21/12 – Borderlands is Diablo with guns. Your enjoyment of this game will be based solely on if you’re the type of player to go solo or if you have a few friends willing to tag along. Solo, there’s nothing really fantastic waiting for you here, however, teaming up with a few friends to explore the wastelands is an absolute thrill. There are some gameplay issues you should know about before jumping in though. Voice chat is done through open mic only (and turned on by default) as well as using the notoriously temperamental Gamespy for matchmaking. If you’re willing to work with it, pick up the Game Of The Year addition to grab the DLC for only a few more bucks.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines – $4.99 – 11 AM EST 7/21/12 – Vampire: The Masquerade is the best RPG/FPS hybrid ever made, outside of maybe the original Deus Ex. There isn’t enough room in a short blurb like this to highlight all of the amazing things it does well, but there’s a reason this game is rarely seen for sale at anything below full price. It’s said that every time the game is referenced online, you can rest assured that someone else is reinstalling it, but I have a hard time believing someone would uninstall it to begin with. The game can be a bit tricky to get running on Windows 7, and it’s essential that you download the fan made unofficial patch to get the most out of this title. The only thing that really separates this title from modern AAA title is the fact that the graphics are a bit dated, but considering that this is a game from 2004 I think it’s fair to get it a pass on that aspect. Pick this one up if you’ve never played it before, and enjoy one of the most well fleshed out titles we’ve seen during this entire sale.

Bulletstorm – $4.99 – 11 AM EST 7/21/12 – When I talked about Saints Row 3 I said it was ”sophomoric, over the top and immature. In other words, it’s amazing.” Bulletstorm may be the only game on the market capable of fitting that description just as well. The game is essentially playing through every cheesy action film you’ve ever seen. The shooting is precise and the weapons are extremely rewarding to play around with. I was worried that the juvenile script and over the top violence would become plaid out by the end of the title, but they’re so expertly done that somehow they manage to keep being entertaining throughout the entire experience. The game is unfortunately on the short side, a single play through may just barely hit double digit hours, but considering this price point you’ll easily get enough enjoyment to justify the investment.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – $4.99 – 1 PM EST 7/21/12 – It would be easy to dismiss Oblivion as outdated in favor of Skyrim, but you’d be doing yourself a disservice. Both games are fantastic in their own right, but it’s hard to say one is grossly better than the other. The modding community for Oblivion has had a lot longer to work with the game, and have come up with some absolutely incredible things, as well as some rather insane ones. The game will feel very similar to Skyrim right off the bat, but there is a rather large group of players who still swear that this is the superior game and more deserving of your money. I’d pick this one up if you can’t get enough of Bethesda’s brand of action RPG.

Pro Cycling Manager 2012 – $19.99 – 1 PM EST 7/21/12 – For those of you who missed my review of Pro Cycling Manager a few weeks ago, I’ll try to sum this up as succinctly as possible. There’s fairly invasive DRM on a title that is essentially looking at Excel spreadsheets about professional bicycling with very little in terms of traditional gameplay. If you’re the type of gamer who follows cycling enough to want to buy a video game about managing a cycling team, you probably already have. If you’re a massive fan of spreadsheets and maximizing the output from your own personal sports team, you’ve probably already bought this or picked up the (arguably superior) Football Manager 2012. If you’re the type of gamer who has 20 bucks they absolutely have to burn, please feel free to PayPal that to me and I will send you a random game as well as a picture of me rolling around in whatever change will be left over.

Tropico 4 – $7.49 – 5 PM EST 7/21/12 – God, do I love Tropico. The city management simulator may not change much in the lines of gameplay but it simply oozes personality. Not content with just building up your tropical island, you have to take charge as a dictator trying to appease world powers, keep up your publicity and calming your people while secretly padding your off shore bank account. If that sentence didn’t tickle you at least a little bit, you can probably stop reading here. With the latest expansion, you can bring your paradise into the modern world complete with your own space program. Fans of city management games should really look into picking this one up.

The Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga – $9.99 – 7 PM EST 7/21/12 –  Divinity II is a fairly immersive hack and slash RPG that offers a lot more than you’d expect at first glance. The game won’t insult your intelligence and has a good bit of humor in it as well. Fans of the original won’t find much here they haven’t seen before, but for new comers this is a great place to jump into the series.

Super Meat Boy – $3.74 – 8 PM EST 7/21/12 – Super Meat Boy is the video game equivalent of an abusive relationship; you know it’s only going to hurt you but for some reason you can’t leave. I can’t think of a game that has caused me this much frustration and brought on more noise complaints while still being fair.

The sense of pride and accomplishment that comes with beating this game is unmatched, outside of perhaps Dark Souls. If you’re the type to throw controllers and break things, you need to pass on this one. Everyone else should buy it and buckle up for one of the most tense platformers ever created. Do yourself a favor and don’t watch any speed run videos though, that just rubs it in a bit too much.

Command and Conquer Franchise – $27.48 – 11 PM EST 7/21/12 – The Command & Conquer franchise is considered one of the best in the RTS genre, although not all of the games live up to that hallmark. The title, for instance, is filled with questionable design choices that while made with the intent of breathing new life into the franchise but seemed to punish the user more often than not. I would recommend either Command & Conquer 3 or Red Alert 3 to newcomers since they still have a pretty active community and the games themselves are pretty well fleshed out. Red Alert 3 also allows the game’s campaign to be played through with a buddy, and some good old fashioned co-op makes everything better. Be warned, as is the case with any RTS some of the people online have forgotten more about the game than I could ever know and will not hesitate to destroy you right off the bat.

Serious Sam 3 – $9.99 – 1 AM EST 7/22/12 – It’s not a secret around the WeGotThisCovered bunker that I’ve got some serious (Ed note: I swear to God I will fire you if you keep doing this) love for the Serious Sam series, but anyone who’s ever played them should be able to tell you why. The old school shooter doesn’t have any cover system or regenerative health, hell it even has an achievement if you go through the game without sprinting or manually reloading. What Serious Sam 3 does have is an insane amount of guns and hordes of Godzilla-esque monsters waiting for you to flay. It’s stupid, it’s cheesy, it’s over the top. I think I may be in love.

Dear Esther – $2.49 – 1 AM EST 7/22/12 Dear Esther isn’t a game in the traditional sense. Think of it as an interactive story of sorts. The game is extremely short (weighing in at around 1.5 hours) and there isn’t anything in the way of conflict/puzzles or anything else that you would really be used to. As a game, it’s not worth your money. It is, however, completely worth the money as an interactive narrative. It’s a refreshing take on storytelling, and if you look at this as more of a movie you’re going to have a great time with it.

Payday: The Heist – $4.99 – 3 AM EST 7/22/12 – Payday is easy to write off as a cheap Left 4 Dead clone, but in doing so you’re doing yourself a disservice. The similarities essentially end at the game being a four player co-op FPS. In Payday, you’re tasked with completing a series of crimes, usually high value robberies, and getting away while the police do their best to bring you to justice. 

Payday requires much more tact than Left 4 Dead since charging in with your guns blazing is going to end up in you being destroyed. If you’re not willing to work as a team making sure you’ve secured a good location to protect the objective as well as keep an eye on each other, you have no shot of survival. Sadly, this game suffers for some shoddy AI when it comes to bots, so unless you’re willing to play online with either your friends or strangers, there’s no real reason to pick this up. Those of you willing to be a social gamer will have an absolute blast.

Age Of Empires III – $9.99– 3 AM EST 7/22/12 – Is Age of Empires really 7 years old now? Wow, now I’m a bit depressed. Age of Empires 3 is one of the best made real time strategy games to every grace the PC, however, it hasn’t aged exceptionally well. Everything is well balanced and for being a 7 year old game it plays fantastically. Fans of RTS games in general will find a lot to love here if they’re willing to deal with the dated presentation, but fans new to the genre may be better suited looking for something that plays a bit smoother.

Universe Sandbox – $2.50 – 11 AM EST 7/22/12 – This is less a game and more of a toy where you can play with interplanetary physics. Create your universes and try to balance everything out so you don’t destroy everything within the first five minutes. It’s extremely simple, but it’s also addicting for reasons I can’t explain. This one is definitely worth a look.

Anno 2070– $24.99 – 11 AM EST 7/22/12 – City management games are a hard sale for a lot of people. Anno 2070 got a bad reputation, and rightly so, for its draconian DRM. Not content with just requiring a constant internet connection, Ubisoft has limited the amount of times you can install the game. Frankly, this is unacceptable. If you’re willing to look past all of this, there’s a fairly robust game here. You can find a demo on Ubisoft’s website here.

Garry’s Mod – $2.49 – 1 PM EST 7/22/12 – Garry’s Mod is a physics sandbox set in the world of the Source engine. It’s not really a game so much as it is a tool set to let your imagination go wild. There really isn’t any limit to what you can come up with. Want to create a catapult to launch your friends across the map? Make it happen. Want to create an intricate Rube Goldberg machine that needs the death of no less than 20 people to open a door? This is your chance. If you’re not the type to create your own fun, you’re really not going to enjoy this. To give you some idea of how much there is to do in this game, there’s an achievement for logging 365 days’ worth of hours. No, I’m not joking. The sheer amount of options here is enough to spark the imagination of any wannabe mad scientist, and if you’re looking for a nice alternative from reality this should be something to check out.

Rage – $10.19 – 1 PM EST 7/22/12 – If you ask ten people about Rage, you’ll get 10 different responses. The bottom line is that the game, while technically proficient, isn’t the greatest FPS of all time. id tried to create a FPS reminiscent of the glory days but it just falls a bit flat. The story never lives up to its full potential, and a lot of the quests are uninspired. The game attempted to be more accessible by almost eliminating the possibility of dying, and without that to strike fear in the players mind it becomes a chore at parts to push through. On the plus side, the game looks absolutely fantastic. In the end though, I’d say pass on this one, there are games more deserving than your money on the way.

Trine 2 – 3.74 – 5 PM EST 7/22/12 – The community has spoken, and they’re two for two on picking some pretty solid games. Trine 2 is a solid puzzle game that masquerades as an action/platformer. The three characters you’ll be tasked with getting across stages are really three different puzzle mechanics you’ll have at your disposal, with the added bonus of having a storyline built around them. The visuals are simply breathtaking, the physics feel spot on and with the addition of multiplayer it becomes an experience that has to be played to be understood. Pick this one up.

Modern Warfare 3 – $29.99 – 1 AM EST 7/23/12 – There’s nothing I can say that will sell you on Modern Warfare 3 if you’re not a fan, nor could I every turn a hardcore fan away. Modern Warfare 3 certainly doesn’t reinvent the wheel by any stretch of the imagination, but it continues to offer a polished product. The multiplayer is tight and offers a very heavy run and gun approach that fans of the series love. When it first launched there were issues to be had with the multiplayer matchmaking, but the vast majority of these issues have been smoothed over, leaving a polished product behind. This will probably be the lowest this game goes before Black Ops II is released in November.
