And The Next Square Enix Deus Ex Trademark Is, Deus Ex: The Fall

Even though Square Enix has yet to officially announce a sequel to their 2011 action-RPG, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the publisher is clearly working behind the scenes to push the franchise forward on multiple fronts. While the exact next step for the series is unknown, we do know that one of the Deus Ex-plates that Square Enix is frantically spinning in the air is apparently named Deus Ex: The Fall.

European trademark for Deus Ex: The Fall was filed by Square Enix on March 5th, with the company noting that the mark would be used for a video game, online entertainment service, comic book, strategy guide, or any number of other related products. Apart from the trademark, the publisher is also listed as the registrant for three DeusExTheFall domains, which were registered this week.

While the new trademark and domain registrations do seem to indicate that Deus Ex: The Fall is the next game in the franchise, it is best not to count your artificially enhanced chickens before they hatch. Last week we reported a very similar trademark for Deus Ex: Human Defiance, however, that turned out to be the possible title of a future Deus Ex movie, and not the unannounced Human Revolution sequel.

Additionally, we got word earlier this week that the Australian Classification Board had issued a new MA 15+ rating for a “modified” version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This is most likely the unconfirmed Wii U port that the Australian development studio Straight Right (the company that ported Mass Effect 3 to the Wii U) is working on, but we can’t say for sure.

The only thing we know at this point is that Square Enix seems to be working towards making several reveals that will likely please Deus Ex fans. What those announcements are exactly is anyone’s guess, but Deus Ex: The Fall appears to be one of them. Keep the name on your radar, and we will let you know as soon as anything official is released.
