With PlayStation Experience 2015 now imminent, Sony has confirmed plans to host a PlayStation VR panel on Saturday, December 5 discussing how the bleeding-edge technology will “leave its mark on gaming and culture.”
Entitled The Future of Play, the 40-minute session will welcome a host of developers who specalize in the medium, including Dave Ranyard and Anton Mikhailov from Sony London and Media Molecule, respectively. Announced via PlayStation Blog, the panel begins at 2 PM PST/5 PM EST, and it wants to answer three burning questions directed at PlayStation VR:
- “How will VR evolve the video game medium?”
- “What’s the number one thing a gaming VR experience has to get right?”
- “Will VR change the way that humans interact with technology?”
Unfortunately, there’s no mention of locking down a price point or a firm release date at this time. Currently, Sony has slated the head-mounted device for a release anytime before June 2016, though rumors claim that the Japanese platform holder is angling the hardware’s launch to coincide with that of Hello Games’ space sim No Man’s Sky.
If you’re eager to experience The Future of Play in the flesh, you’ll be pleased to note that tickets are still available for the VR-centric panel, though the entire session – along with all the others – will be streamed online via Twitch. Sony’s keynote, meanwhile, will be held on Saturday, December 5, starting at 10 AM PST.
PlayStation Experience 2015 will take place across the weekend of December 5-6 in San Francisco. PlayStation VR is just one of a number of attendees at the event, with Sony expected to roll out new details on first and third-party games alike.
