Not all PlayStation VR titles will be compatible with the standard DualShock 4 gamepad Sony has admitted, despite previous comments by the company suggesting otherwise. The original statement made by the electronics giant to Eurogamer said that “all PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers,” adding that “some game experiences will be enhanced with the use of peripherals such as Move.”

All PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers. However some game experiences will be enhanced with the use of peripherals such as Move or the recently announced Aim controller. Images being shown of PSVR packaging on some websites are early mock ups and not representative of the finished packaging.

However, the company made some subtle tweaks to the above statement when speaking to The Verge, instead revealing that “nearly all PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers…There will be a limited number of titles that require Move controllers.”

Nearly all PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers, and several games will deliver an enhanced experience that further immerses gamers with the use of peripherals such as Move or the recently announced Aim controller. There will be a limited number of titles that require Move controllers.

Despite all of the above however, Sony has yet to confirm which games launching alongside PlayStation VR will actually require the use of PlayStation Move, although VideoGamer reports that PlayStation VR Worlds will be one such example. Sony wants to be careful not to make too many peripherals a requirement to use PSVR: the headset alone will set you back hundreds of dollars, and that’s not even accounting for the mandatory camera. Add in Move, and you’re looking at spending upwards of $500.
