After much hype, the reception for the Apex Legends Season 1 Battle Pass has been muted at best. Fans have rightly pointed out that many of the rewards unlockable in the Battle Pass are almost worthless, with the worst offenders being badges and skill trackers. But there’s one country that has a slightly different version of the Battle Pass to everyone else: Belgium.
In the wake of the Star Wars Battlefront II controversy, they enacted a law that bans all paid loot boxes, resulting in a criminal investigation against EA for selling FIFA points. EA also publishes Apex Legends, and they’re presumably wary of fines and bad publicity. So, they’ve taken the prudent step of replacing all of the Apex Packs in the Battle Pass with crafting metals. These can be used by players to craft skins, and given the paucity of skins in the Battle Pass itself, it looks as if Belgian gamers are getting a better deal.
Many Apex Legends fans around the world seem to agree, and they’ve realized that if they simply change their region to Belgium in their EA account settings, the game will switch to this version of the Battle Pass. You can even do this if you’ve already begun the Battle Pass.
Essentially, this means that rather than skins being available through the luck of the draw, you’re guaranteed to be able to slowly work towards them through earning these metals. In fact, if you earn all 1350 of these metals you’ll be able to craft a legendary skin and still have 150 metal left over. Not too shabby, eh?
You can bet that this Apex Legends loophole being so easily exploitable is something that EA’s going to nip in the bud as soon as they can, so if you want to take advantage of it, then you’d better do it now.
