If you’re a current generation console owner and you’ve yet to experience the horror of the Slender Man mythos, you’re in for a treat. A new report from Xbox Achievements confirms that the first-person survival game Slender: The Arrival will be coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on March 25 for $9.99 (approximately £7.99).
The Arrival follows on from the original Slender: The Eight Pages game, which shook the indie horror community to its core with its unbelievably tense cat-and-mouse atmosphere and terrifying soundtrack. The game was developed by Parsec Productions for PC and Mac. Slender: The Arrival takes the original concept of the game and adds a more in-depth storyline, improved graphics and new environments.
The game is inspired by the fictional myth of the Slender Man, a supernatural tall being with no facial features and a black suit and tie who stalks and traumatizes his victims, who are mostly children.
The idea started on a Something Awful forum post in which users were challenged with editing photographs to contain supernatural creatures. A user by the name of Victor Surge contributed two black and white images which contained groups of children and the now legendary Slender Man added into the background. Since then, the Slender myth has gone viral and has inspired a cultural phenomenon, including the Eight Pages and subsequent Arrival.
