Saddle Up With Titanfall 2 Launch Trailer, Respawn Confirms PS4 Pro Support Is On-Disc

Get a glimpse of the blistering action of Titanfall 2 with the sequel's official launch trailer. It'll deploy for action on Friday, October 28.

When the original Titanfall touched down from orbit two years ago on PC and Xbox platforms, Respawn’s debut title was a blistering addition to a first-person shooter genre that was running the risk of stagnation. And though it fell just short of greatness, thanks in large part to the overbearing expectations that preceded it, the blistering multiplayer shooter laid the groundwork for a newfound FPS franchise.

One feature that was sorely missed, though, was a story-driven campaign. That all changes with the release of Titanfall 2 later this week. After listening to feedback from the 2014 sleeper hit, Respawn has developed a fully-fledged single-player experience in time for the sequel, and that’s a new addition that takes center stage in the fiery launch trailer.

In related news, we also have confirmation that come November 10, Titanfall 2 will support PS4 Pro from the get-go, and early adopters of Sony’s mid-gen hardware refresh needn’t worry about downloading an update, as the content is already included on the TF2 disc. Per Twitter, the sequel’s producer Drew McCoy noted that said support is “not native 4K and I would be surprised if anyone saw native 4K with AAA level games any time soon. It just takes so much processing power. It’s unbelievable amounts of just GPU grunt to do that.”

Because we also made the PC version, we have some nobs we can tweak, so we just spent some time making sure it still runs well and looks good on PS4 Pro. You know, making sure it doesn’t look any worse at all. That’s the requirement: it can’t run any worse or look worse than on PS4. So it runs better, looks better, and has no bugs on PS4 Pro.

Emerging onto the scene a mere week after the release Battlefield 1, questions remains as to whether Titanfall 2 can occupy the lion’s share of the shooter market when it releases on October 28. The review embargo lifted earlier today and by and large, the critical consensus is overly positive.
