Rockstar Games has already detailed the minimum and required specifications for Grand Theft Auto V on PC, but one of the most tantalizing prospects of the sequel’s much-anticipated port to the platform is the ability to push the graphical fidelity to the absolute limit. Specifically, those fortunate enough to own a high-end gaming rig will be pleased to note that GTA V will support 4K resolution when it releases on PC Tuesday, April 14, and the studio has finally confirmed what you’ll need to project Los Santos in the crystal-clear format.
Speaking in an interview with PC Gamer, Kevin Hoare — President of Rockstar Toronto — outlined those specs in question.
“To run the game on a 4K display at 30fps, you’ll need at minimum an AMD HD 7870 or Nvidia GTX 760 with 2GB of VRAM.” Mind you, configuring the setup to support 4K and 60fps will require a “high-end SLI or Crossfire setup.”
As expected, players will get full reign over an array of graphical options when the game ships next week, allowing them to finetune the performance of Grand Theft Auto V relative to their own personal gaming set-up. For Rockstar, though, bestowing the end user with that level of freedom has been one of the main focuses when bringing the open-world sequel to PC.
“One of the lessons we have learned over the years through Grand Theft Auto IV and Max Payne 3 on PC was that people want the freedom to configure their system to suit their preferences. Our focus for Grand Theft Auto V was to ensure most people could run the game comfortably, and provide a wide range of options to tailor your experience to your system.”
