While Nintendo has a handful of first-party titles heading to their hybrid platform in the coming months, there are plenty of horror offerings for those who prefer to scare themselves on the go. As some will remember, earlier this year, Capcom revealed that it would be bringing three classic Resident Evil games to the Nintendo Switch; an announcement that was met with some pushback. Not only do the Switch versions of Resident Evil 0, 1, and 4 cost a whopping $30 (an odd price point, considering the games are well over a decade old), but the publisher chose to release these ports solely on the platform’s eShop, with no physical copies hitting store shelves.
Presumably, these handheld versions did alright for themselves, because not too long after, Capcom decided to bring even more games to the platform. To coincide with Halloween, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 will be hitting the Switch on October 29th.
For those who aren’t too familiar with some of the later entries in the series, here’s a quick refresher. Resident Evil 5 follows the exploits of Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar, who are exploring a new bioweapon that has popped up in Africa. Resident Evil 6, meanwhile, in an effort to shake things up, features three separate campaigns, which weave in and out of each other while delivering an equal mix of slower-paced survival horror with more over-the-top action.
Interestingly, as noted on Capcom‘s official website, the publisher is opting to release a special bundle exclusively in North America. The Resident Evil Triple Pack includes the fourth, fifth, and sixth games, and will be available as a physical copy on store shelves.
Unfortunately, it seems that only Leon Kennedy’s adventure in Spain is actually included on a cartridge, with the other two titles distributed via download vouchers. We’ll be sure to check out these versions closer to launch date though, so keep your eyes peeled for our coverage.
