Capcom has announced that an “Ultimate HD Edition” of Resident Evil 4 will hit the PC platform at the end of next month, with a worldwide release for Steam and a retail release for Europe slated. This newly-updated version of the 2005 Nintendo GameCube classic will feature high-definition graphics as well as extra content featured in previous re-releases of the game, such as the playable Separate Ways epilogue.

A press release promoting the upcoming Steam release boasts the visual upgrades made to the action-based revival of the iconic survival horror franchise:

“A complete visual overhaul has been performed to bring this revered title to the highest graphical quality ever. Fully optimized for the wide screen, texts have been sharpened and textures have been upgraded on characters, backgrounds and in-game objects.”

As a result, the game will now run at 60 frames per second, though at second glance, it appears that the visual enhancements simply amount to things being more crisp. The gameplay, on the other hand, should still be as great as it always has been.

To mark the impending Steam release of this Ultimate HD Edition of Resident Evil 4, a pre-order page has been launched, promising players incentives such as a digital art book plus a digital copy of the game’s soundtrack. In other words, if you’re a hardcore Resident Evil fan, then pre-ordering this enhanced re-release of the franchise’s most popular instalment will probably be a priority to you.
