PSA: Overwatch’s Year Of The Rooster Event Comes To A Close Today

If you've yet to complete your collection of limited-time skins made available as part of Overwatch's Year of the Rooster event, you'll want to kick it up a notch - the Chinese New Year themed affair is due to conclude today, February 13. Once the event comes to a close, Lunar Loot Boxes will once again return to the standard version you'll have grown used to seeing during non-event play, with the character skins, victory poses, sprays and other oddities being removed along with them.

With that said, there will be some remnants of the celebration sticking around for good. Capture the Rooster, a special game mode released to coincide with the above, will become a permanent feature of Overwatch play, accessible to players through the Custom Games option. Last week, Blizzard released a developer update video, wherein game director Jeff Kaplan detailed various improvements coming to the feature, including the ability to disallow certain Heroes from being played, as well as disabling any abilities that you may deem overpowered.

As for what awaits Overwatch on the horizon, Blizzard has yet to confirm any additional events headed to the shooter anytime soon. With Valentine’s Day almost upon us, it’s safe to say that it won’t be celebrating that occasion in-game, but there’s still plenty of other big holiday periods coming up. Like Easter, for example. We’ll just have to wait and see what Blizzard has planned.
