Love isn’t the only thing that will be in the air this weekend. While Valentine’s Day has no doubt been looming fresh in the mind of many people, Sony has announced that it will be hosting an open weekend for PS4 owners, who will gain access to PlayStation Plus multiplayer free of charge for a limited period of time.
Currently, this promotional stint has only been confirmed for Europe, though we’ll update you as soon as we hear word of it making its way to North America. According to a post via PlayStation Blog, the online community event will kick off on Friday at 6am GMT before the window closes on Monday, February 16 at the same time. Here’s the message Sony had for those who may have been missing out on the experience of PS Plus hitherto.
But fear not; from 13th February at 6.00am GMT/7.00am CET for the whole weekend we are opening the doors to the world of online play, giving you the opportunity to take on your friends and fellow gamers from around the globe in epic online battles.
Much like PlayStation Plus events of old, this weekend’s freebie will only grant users access to a limited amount of features included in the full subscription. Primarily, like we mentioned earlier, PlayStation 4 owners can circumvent the paywall and jump into a bout of multiplayer action over the three days, but those same players won’t be able to utilize cloud storage nor will they be entitled to the PS Plus discounts found on the PlayStation Store.
Moreover, what is arguably the service’s most enticing feature, the Instant Game Collection, will remain off limits for the entirety of the event, meaning users won’t be able to gain access to PlayStation Plus‘ free monthly games.
