In tandem with the announcement, Evolution Studios — the company behind the proverbial developing wheel — unveiled a brand new launch trailer, which touts some of the game’s innate social features.
What was once a launch title, Driveclub slipped from the PlayStation 4’s starting grid last year following concerns over technical issues. In fact, Sony’s Worldwide Studio Boss Shuhei Yoshida touched upon the specifics of the delay in a post over on PlayStation Blog.
“The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What Driveclub offers has not been previously achieved in this category, and, because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game you’re waiting for.”
Not only that, Evolution Studios has also underwent some restructuring of its own. Following Col Rodgers departure in February, who served as the game’s creative director up to that point, Paul Rustchynsky has been confirmed to replace Rodgers’ role at the UK-based studio.
Looking ahead to the game’s North American release date, though, it seems Driveclub is set to line up alongside some other hefty software releases, with Alien: Isolation, Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor and Dragon Age: Inquisition all pegged for October 7th, too.
After a lengthy delay, Driveclub will finally drift onto PlayStation 4 on October 7th in North America, October 8th in Europe and October 10th for those in the UK.
