Despite being well into 2017 by now, Bungie and Activision have remained tight-lipped in regards to a sequel for sci-fi shooter Destiny, despite the latter having confirmed previously that it’s still on-track to meet a release this year. Indeed, Activision has yet to officially announce Destiny 2 to the masses, with the publisher seemingly waiting for the perfect occasion to unveil the highly-anticipated follow-up. So far, all fans have had to go on in regards to teasers was a collection of leaked (and unverified) concept art back in the summer of last year, but now we could well have our first solid details, albeit from an unlikely source.
Three unreleased toy sets spotted on Amazon by a Mega Bloks fan site (via NeoGAF/VG247) detail three such bundles for Destiny, one of which describes an event that’s yet to happen in-game. For those that don’t have young children and grew out of using them for personal entertainment many moons ago, Mega Bloks is a toy company that manufactures Lego-style building block sets and has produced various video game-related merchandise in the past.
Three upcoming sets in total are summarized in the post, two of which are based on existing assets or events already found in-game. However, a third, the Cabal Bruiser Battle Building Set, includes some very interesting flavor text in its synopsis about an event that has yet to happen. Check it out below.
Cabal Bruiser Battle Building Set
Buildable hangar platform
Set the scene for a clash between a Bruiser’s crushing strength and a master swordsman’s skill
A legendary warrior faces his greatest contest yet in the Tower hangar
Wielding his Raze-Lighter, hero of the Crucible Lord Shaxx prepares to pit his blade against the furious cleavers of a Cabal Red Guard
Is the Tower hub location where Guardians meet to mingle and unload their loot going to be besieged by the Cabal in Destiny 2? An invasion by the highly-militarized aliens is an event that has never been mentioned as having happened previously in Destiny’s extensive library of Grimoire Cards, so one can only assume we’re reading about an event yet to happen.
Incidentally, a similar event was mentioned in a leak last year that allegedly came straight from sources within Activision. At the very least, the above could well suggest that Activision is fast approaching an announcement for Destiny 2. We’ll be keeping close tabs on this one, so be sure to check back for any developments.
Destiny 2 is scheduled to release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (and potentially PC) in 2017.
