Are you hungering for new Pokémon Sword and Shield details? Given the near-total absence of fresh intel following Nintendo and Game Freak’s initial announcement, there’s a high chance you are. In the months since Ninty’s big Direct Presentation outing the pair of Switch games, only deafening silence has ensued in its wake, inevitably warping that initial excitement into sheer frustration.
Indeed, all the world truly knows of the games is that they’re part of the core RPG series and will see Trainers move overseas to the UK-inspired Galar region. On the new Pokémon front, too, information has been hard to come by, the lack of official correspondence inevitably leading to several elaborate fakes doing the rounds. The three starters – Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble – remain the only recognized Generation 8 members, though the initial trailer did confirm the return of several ‘Mons from days gone by.

So, now that you’re up to speed on the current situation, what’s next? Well, according to encyclopedic Pokémon fansite Serebii, June 21st is the next date you’ll want to make note of in your calendar. As per its translation of Japanese magazine CoroCoro Ichiban, the latter confirms that its June issue will include all the “Latest information for Pokémon Sword & Shield.” In other words, Pokéfans have more or less one month left to wait, before Game Freak further lifts the veil on its latest and greatest creation, though it’s worth noting that the above date follows the conclusion of E3.
Chances are, the hype machine will restart its engines to coincide with the event’s start on June 11th, with all the new details (and perhaps more) then rounded up and elaborated on in CoroCoro. At least, that’s the hope. Either way, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled on all the appropriate channels as soon as spring gives way to summer.
An official release date for Pokémon Sword and Shield is still forthcoming, though if previous leaks are accurate, November is likely when you’ll be wanting to book time off work. Stay tuned.
