Are you ready to experience Pokémon like never before? Pokken Tournament, a Pokémon-themed fighting game that’s currently only available at Japanese arcades, is making its console debut next year on Nintendo’s Wii U.

But what’s all the fuss about, you ask? Well, Bandai Namco Entertainment – the same guys responsible for that little-known Tekken series – are the ones responsible for this fighting game/pocket monster mash-up, and the various trailers of the game floating around YouTube suggest that it’s really rather good.

This isn’t some quick-sale cash-grab, it’s a fully-fledged Pokémon brawler. Unfortunately, though, other than a general Spring 2016 release date, The Pokémon Company haven’t given specific details concerning additional platforms or potential differences between the arcade and console versions.

An Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release are almost-assuredly not going to happen considering the game is being published by Nintendo, but a PC release, however unlikely, is possible.

Either way, the Spring 2016 date has been confirmed to be a worldwide one, so you can put the fears of regional exclusivity to bed right now. There’s sure to be a lot more news for Pokken Tournament coming out of the Tokyo Game Show in September, so stay tuned for any updates.
