With what seems like a bargain compared to the current Kinect pricing, the new Playstation 4 Eye camera will launch at a meager $59 (£44 and €49). Also, additional DualShock 4 controllers will run around $59 as well.
The PlayStation 4 Eye utilizes new technology and includes two highly sensitive cameras that have 85-degree diagonal angle views. This allows the camera to accurately determine depth and better separate the player from the background.
There are four microphones integrated into the PlayStation 4 Eye that enable it to accurately detect sound and source origin. Moreover, it will also be able to sense the light bar on the DualShock 4 controller, in order to judge the positions of multiple players at the same time.
At this time it does not appear that the PlayStation 4 Eye will be a required purchase, but will instead be an optional add-on to the PlayStation 4.
We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
