Red Barrels have confirmed a number of details about their upcoming Outlast 2, which is currently in its late stages of development. The title will be the sequel to their immensely terrifying first from the series, and will apparently be taking place quite some time after the events of that first game.
In a stream of Tweets that followed a post about Outlast 2, Red Barrels replied to a number of fan questions in which various details were revealed about what we can expect from the sequel. As well as the timescale confirmation, other interesting tidbits concerned the likely release date and setting for the new game.
@LostnW0nderland Yeah, somewhat after the events of Mount Massive.

The release date is set to be around Fall of this year, meaning we unfortunately have over half a year left until we can get a chance to play it. Other Tweets also confirmed that the game will not take place on the grounds of an asylum this time around. While no other details were revealed about the likely setting, the latest teaser image – which you can see above – does seem to suggest a much more open and underdeveloped area will feature in the game.
Outlast 2 will be a hotly anticipated sequel to one of the scariest games of all time, and we’ll be sure to bring you more news as it comes to us.
