Now that The Walking Dead has entered its seasonal hiatus, Norman Reedus — aka fan favorite and all-round badass Daryl Dixon — has taken to Reddit to host an Ask Me Anything about behind-the-scenes tidbits of AMC’s hit show along with a brief update about his role in Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming horror title, Silent Hills.
In response to a user question, Reedus revealed that Kojima approached him about the role, which involved both motion and voice capture; though the actor revealed that the worst (read: horrifying best) is still yet to come.
“I’m super excited to be a part of [Silent Hills],” said Reedus. “Both [Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro] are geniuses at what they do. We haven’t shot the heavy stuff yet.”
First revealed via the cryptic, wholly brilliant P.T. (playable teaser) off the back of Gamescom in August, players first encountered Reedus’ character walking up a dimly-lit street before the title reveal, which also confirmed Kojima and Del Toro’s involvement in the project. Since then, we haven’t heard much about the horror reboot of-sorts aside from a gloriously gothic trailer and the fact that the directors may release the game episodically in the vein of Telltale’s model.
Whether this comes to pass is another question entirely. But given that Reedus referred to Kojima and Del Toro as two “geniuses,” fans of the franchise can rest assured that the beloved IP is in safe hands. After all, the Silent Hill series as a whole hasn’t been firing on all cylinders as of late what with the mediocre PlayStation Vita entry Book of Memories, and given the talent on board for Silent Hills, we’re holding out hope that next year’s survival horror entry is a welcome and wholly terrifying return to form.
