NIS America, the publisher of such cult hits as the Disgaea series, confirmed four new Japanese titles that they’re planning to localize for the West yesterday, at a company keynote presentation in downtown San Francisco.
The biggest surprise of the four may be the announcement of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair for the Vita, mainly due to the fact that its predecessor, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, made its English debut just earlier this week. Currently scheduled for a release sometime this fall in both Europe and North America, Danganronpa 2 will swap out the school setting of Hope’s Peak Academy from the original game for the tropical Jabberwock Island. Series antagonist Monokuma will also return, once again putting several students through a deadly game.
A new version of Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, titled Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited, was also announced for the Vita, following in the first three main games’ footsteps of receiving an enhanced handheld port after its home console debut. Currently scheduled for release sometime this summer, additions will include numerous new scenarios that add extra background information for the cast, several new characters and cameos, new in-battle spells and techniques and all the downloadable content from the PS3 version.
The third game, Fairy Fencer F, will launch sometime this year for the PS3. Developed by Hyperdimension Neptunia creators Compile Heart, it will feature concept art by Yoshitaka Amano and music by Nobuo Uematsu, both best known for their work on the Final Fantasy series. The game will follow a young man named Fang forced into an ancient conflict and will revolve around turn-based JRPG combat.
The last title, Battle Princess of Arcadias, will be available via digital distribution only on the PS3 sometime this year. A beat-em-up action-RPG sidescroller hybrid, the game will have players control a princess named Plume, fighting monsters that have overrun the kingdom of Schwert. An extensive upgrade system will allow you to collect both new weapons and materials in battle to upgrade gear.
We will keep you updated on more news regarding NIS America and their titles as it drops. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on these announcements in the comments section below.
