At its ongoing E3 presser this evening, Sony Santa Monica officially pulled back the curtain on God of War, which will introduce the PlayStation tentpole to Norse mythology in 2017.
It was the crescendo to end all crescendos; building off a truly excellent orchestral opening, Sony presented a live demonstration of the latest entry in the God of War series. Teasing a “new beginning” for the action-adventure franchise, the demo opened on a young boy playing in the woods, before introducing a decidedly older and bearded Kratos.
From there, the gameplay that followed evoked memories of The Last of Us, with Kratos’ son venturing forth into the outback and essentially blazing the path for you. But their heartfelt exchange is cut short when a giant stomps onto the scene, introducing fans to those signature, over-the-top action sequences synonymous with the God of War series.
God of War is without an official release date at the time of writing, but we’ll be sure to update this post if and when we learn more. For now, share your early impressions on Sony Santa Monica’s soft reboot via the comments section below.
