Similar to first Kombat Pack, the second batch of characters pulls not only from the history of Mortal Kombat, but also from the world of horror films. Bo’ Rai Cho, Liu Kang’s hefty mentor, will suit up to fight once again. The Outworld trainer made an appearance in the story for MKX, but hasn’t been playable since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Technically the other returning fighter to Mortal Kombat X is not just a single entity. Instead, the newly-christened Tri-Borg is a combination of three fan favorites from the franchise’s history. Instead of bringing in Cyrax, Sektor and Robot Smoke, the three-pieced cyborg features all of the abilities possessed by his robotic predecessors. It hasn’t been specified, however, whether or not there is someone new behind the cybernetic mask, or whether this is just all three bots mashed into one.

Joining fellow horror icons Jason Voorhees and Predator on the MKX roster will be a pair of equally scary challengers. Leatherface, the chainsaw-wielding icon from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, will bring his own brand of brutal violence to the fight, while the Xenomorph from Alien, who has apparently possessed Baraka, is presumably down to brawl with the Predator once again.

Judging from the reactions I have seen online, it appears that many fans are disappointed with the Kombat Pack 2 roster. Longtime fans of the series have clamored for old faces such as Rain or Shujinko, who appeared in MKX already, to become playable instead of more guest characters. However, NetherRealm Studios has claimed that Jason and Predator sold incredibly well, so from a business perspective, it makes sense for them to include additional guest fighters. And besides, who knows, maybe we’ll get a Kombat Pack 3 sometime in the future.
