Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn DLC Release Date Revealed

Mortal Kombat 11 fans finally have a crystal clear picture of when its various DLC characters are expected to arrive. Emphasis on the word finally can't be overstated, either. Developer NetherRealm Studios has moved at a snail's pace - not helped by studio head Ed Boon's good-natured trolling on social media - in keeping fans updated on such matters, though given what we know now, that's undoubtedly due to some of the content being a ways off from launch.

Mortal Kombat 11 fans finally have a crystal clear picture of when its various DLC characters are expected to arrive. Emphasis on the word finally can’t be overstated, either. Yes, we absolutely know when Todd McFarlane’s Spawn is scheduled to ingratiate himself with the rest of MK11‘s roster, but it’s certainly not going to be anytime soon. The iconic comic book anti-hero is intended to be the last of six additional characters confirmed for the gruesome brawler and won’t join the party until March 17th, 2020. That means we won’t be seeing the hellspawn dole out fiery justice until almost a year after the game’s initial release date. Talk about taking your time.

A somewhat disappointing outcome, no doubt, but if the protracted development cycle means NetherRealm has all the time necessary to ensure it does Spawn justice, then this timeline is certainly preferable to a rush job. Speaking of which, early impressions appear to indicate that Ed Boon and his team are knocking the character’s design out the park. That’s what recent comments from Todd McFarlane seem to indicate, at least, and who better to pass judgement than the creator of Spawn himself?

Such glowing early impressions will only make the seven-month wait even more painful for some, of course, but NetherRealm is certainly doing its best to fill the void with other content. The first two Kombat Pack characters, Shang Tsung and Nightwolf, are now available for Mortal Kombat 11 as either standalone purchases or part of a complete bundle.
