EA’s press conference at Gamescom 2015 featured a brand new gameplay feature for DICE’s upcoming Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, offering up a pretty action-packed look at what can be expected from the game.
Kicking things off with a quick combat preview, the trailer goes on to showcase the slick, first person free-running that made the original Mirror’s Edge so unique. Faith moves her way across the rooftops of sleek city skyscrapers on a simple grab mission, but as the trailer progresses, it quickly becomes apparent that there is something much more sinister at work in Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.
Faith quickly realizes she’s not the only one interested in whatever is being hidden at Elysium labs and a second, well-equipped operative has also infiltrated the building. The time soon comes for a quick escape, and it’s in this frantic chase that the game’s combat is showcased. Faith uses all of her skill and guile to despatch a few Elysium guards with typical flair as she makes her way finally toward a daring leap to safety.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will release worldwide in February 2016 across PC and consoles, and is set to replace the original’s linear level design with a vast open world for players to explore. Suffice to say, we can’t wait to get our hands on it.
