As if the fact that we’re getting a sequel to one of the most acclaimed racers in recent history wasn’t enough, Codemasters has been kind enough to release a series of awesome videos showcasing what to expect from the upcoming GRID 2. In their latest effort, the developers show off new Asian locales, cars and racing events that are looking to push this racer even further than its peers.
New drift races are introduced in Japan, focusing on controlling your vehicle at its most unstable, while open road events take place in Hong Kong, pitting players against each other in a contactless one-on-one race. Street racing and track racing deliver exactly what they promise, with cars blazing through Dubai and Abu Dhabi, respectively.
These unique events and locales look promising for the series, which prides itself on style and intense, white-knuckle match-ups. If anything, drifting past a dead drop off a cliff or competing with a foe without exchanging paint will only make the experience that much more enjoyable.
It’s also worth noting that this sequel has been in development for quite a while (GRID came out all the way back in 2008), meaning that with every reveal comes the possibility that there are just as many secrets being kept close to the chest until release. As fantastic as the original was, GRID 2 is looking to blow it out of the water, and even these small recent announcements are enough to do so.
